    John -

Just wondering, where is the data from the maintenance screen stored? I had some things set in DFX3 that I want to just port over into DFX4, but I don't see any sort of maintenance.txt...? It looks like the skin file saves the variables...into itself?

Correct, All those get stored in the skin file as vars.

Is there a way to extract them? Or can I take the maintenance.skin file from DFX3 and copy it over the one in DFX4 to carry over the data?

The actual skin is probably exactly the same. No changes from 3 to 4. You should be able to just copy the maintenance skin from the DFX3 file to the DFX 4 file and all will be good.

Cool. So this is maybe a little OT, but aren't the .skin files basically just text? How can they "remember" variables (without altering the file itself)?

This is what you need to do,
#1 open up your "Skin.ini" in your 3.0 skin folder and copy out the millage stuff(~1/2 dn)
#2 open up your "skin.ini" in your 4.0 skin folder and replace that millage stuff copied from the other file save and you'll be good to go...

I know, I could try to reinstall RR and DFX, but before I do it I want to try to fix it.
I'm really sorry for quouting myself, but this is killing me. John, pleas, is there something in DFX 4 that was not in DFX 3, that times out in or around 71sec.?
That's how long it takes for RR to freez.

I do not know what could be causing that.... sorry. You do say that RR and the skin work fine if you unplug the USB GPS puck. This definitely is not a coding error then in the skin.... Hmmm

Try looking in your rr.ini, and in the skin.ini and find a line, if its in there localcaptureinterval and change it to 0

Then look in the RR Root folder for zips.dll, and if there delete it.

These are the only two things that I know of that are timed... The skin itself does not have any recurring timers.

how consistent is this "71sec" freeze? that's pretty strange.... i would really suggest giving a re-install a shot. it's a lot easier than trying to rack your brains over tiny bugs. if that doesn't work, then you can start the hunt.
