Ok, this is so far off topic from the skin, that I can't even really justify posting it in my own thread! Off topic or not, I had to tell someone about the crazy night I had.
It started like any other Sat night, going out with some friends, having a few drinks and a good time.
It was not until the drive home that things changed. I had just gotten off the interstate, and was sitting at a light to turn right. There was a car in front of me, and this guy staggered up and banged on the passenger window. I watched as the car pulled forward to avoid him, and the guy collapsed to the ground. I backed up, and pulled to the side of the off ramp and put it in park, as something just did not seem right. One would think great, a homeless person, a beggar, a drunk who knows, but something told me it was more than that.
As I got out of the car and walked up, he was gasping for air. He looked Spanish and asked him if he spoke English, and he somewhat shook his head no the best that he could, and gasped Espanol... At that point he collapsed completely. He was young, and looked to be about 20 years old or so.
As I looked him over, he had some sort of stab wound to his chest and was bleeding pretty bad, as well as from the nose and mouth. I was a medic in the Army some years ago and something just kicked in. I checked his breathing... he had stopped breathing. I did the whole can you hear me, shook his shoulders ect... no response.
I ran back to the car, got the first aid kit, and pulled out the plastic tube for CPR that prevents mouth to mouth contact. Another car was stopping at the light and I was yelling to them to call 911. I administered CPR, and in just a short time, and he choked and began to gasp for air. I then rolled him on his side so he would not choke on any blood and such.
I then called 911 myself to report it. They said they had received a call, and they were dispatching to Forrest Hill and I-95. I told them that was wrong! I was at I-95 and 6th ave (2 exists to the south of where they thought we were). She told me the person who called gave that location. I was adiment and told her it was wrong. I ran back to the car, and gave her the exact Lat and Lon of where we were (From the already open RR of course). Within a couple of minutes a police car showed up, followed by another a few seconds after that.
it was a lot more eventful night that I had anticipated! The police thanked me for stopping and helping, and dismissed me politely to basically leave.
I dont know what part I played, or the CarPC played in the whole thing, but it did help to pinpoint precisely where we were. I am sure I will never know what happened with they guy, and am sure they will not tell me if I try to call and ask.
I had my camera in my pocket, and took this photo as I was walking away.
(I blurred out the guy more out of respect, as I do not know his condition, or if he actually made it or not).
