The simple reason that the carwings skin is mentioned when u ask about a problem is that it's a bit more simpler than dfx and if we devs can reproduce the same issue on our ends then it is more likely to be an actual rr code problem then just a skin related isssue.

This would be correct if one was updating from a much older riderunner, before the extra checks were put in be me, as the prior code just ignored the errors and continued to chug along. Or, that file somehow got deleted...

Correct, just updating rr will only update rr's files, does nothing to the skins folder execpt to update the default skin if you specified to install it the first time around.

If i knew more about skinning I guess i could convert some of them myself.
searching for music via rr or rrmedia? I can help u (post needed lines and where they go) if you give a little more detail.

Maybe an option should be added to be able to ignore the errors and allow RR to chug along so it will work with older skins which may have 'errors' in them.

Otherwse we are losing tha backward compatibility, which G harps on about.

Thanks Blue ZX3, its possible I was using an older version (I'd swear I was using the december one but maybe not) as I just got around to building an enclosure etc. for my truck pc. I've been planning it for at least 10 years but until this past month its never really come together. I gotta say, i'm lovin' it.

The screen I'm referring to is the search results in DFX4 when searching for MP3 files. Its kind of a circuitous route but I hit Music/Browse/Search and choose a method.. e.g. Title and the results that come up aren't an IList (for me). It could be the normal playlist screen for all I know. I looked around the skin but I just haven't had time to really dig into learning how they work yet. I really dig the IList as it works just like my windows mobile phone and is quite intuitive.

Well this particular type of error is usually easly fixed. E.g. You can't load a screen for which has no skin file or if it's a graphic issue(missing) then one just needs to point it to the correct graphic.

How about if your car had an option to disable the engine/oil dash light for those ppl that figure that, yeah I don't need that light(s), car is running just fine whether it's just about to run out of oil or not...

Just seems kinda silly to have such an opt out option, to me.

After some puttering around, I find that my issue with the ilists and music is limited to directory mode lists. If its showing folders the ilist doesn't work. A playlist with songs (not folders) seems to work just fine, I can drag the list up and down to my hearts content.. At this point I don't know if its a RR issue or a skin issue. I still don't know quite enough yet but I'm working on it.

The directory ilists in the carwings skin work ok for me it seems, so its not directory ilists that's the issue.

Ok.. last edit. It seems the fix for this is in post #3700 of this thread. Just took me a bit to find it. http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/rr-r...in#post1323317

I installed the 2010 release of RR (installed just fine), tried to install DFX4, which crashed at "FixFlash", 22%. Had to manually kill the process. Tried a couple of times after that with various combinations of reinstallations, including turning off AV, firewall etc, to no avail.

BUT, now my default font in IE has turned italic??? What's with that? And I can't seem to find what caused it, or what to turn off, to restore it back. Is this an RR issue or DFX4 issue??

But my concern is that these pieces of software are going to be running in a moving CAR. If they are not stable even during installation, should I expect lot of glitches during operation? Not to put down RR or DFX, I think both are amazing, but I'm just a lil concerned about stability.
STILL crashes at 22% (FixFlash.exe), and this is a brand new installation of Windows 7 32 bit, with nothing but the base install and RR on it. Any ideas?
