If I sound cranky, blame it on all the time in the last 2 days with little sleep trying to go through all the upcoming media features in the next release with john. Working out the remaining bugs and making sure that everything is as user friendly as the rest of the skin is of which John has already put huge effort into making it this way....

correct me if i'm wrong. but i think to make it a 'pause' button, that would include making a bunch of new skins.

for instance.
Its playing the normal way and you see the play button. You click play to make it pause, it then has to load another skin to show the pause button. Press pause again to make it the play button, which loads the original skin. and to even go as far as making it a stop button (holding the play button down makes it stop, if u didnt know). In essence, this would create slower performance issues since you are having to load different skins to see a pause button.

And if you are worried about 4-5 sec silent song intros, you can always look at the time bar. If it's moving, it's playing.

So i'm with Blue ZX3 on this one.

Well, not every screen has a time bar. I can't think of which one off the top of my head but I ran into this morning.

I may take a shot at a pause button, it can be done the same way that the mute button is done. Just add the image to the on pngs and some minor editing to the skin file. There's just 50 screens that need to be edited.

The pause/play can be done with an indicator (status) and using the files play.gif, pause.gif and stop.gif

What about a variable that would change the label? Then it would be a matter of adding a pause character to the dfxfont file.

Actually, there are around 180 skins that would need to be edited. The only skins that do not have the play button on the bottom are the few pop-ups menu's (OSK, NumOSK, Weather, and a few option pop-ups.)

This would also entail editing the 180 or so PSD image files as well, and exporting them as new ON Png's adding in the pause indicator. The "Play" icon can not be removed, as it is not an icon at all, but a font. To change it would require changing the font, and reloading the skin, which is not an option (Have the skin reload every time pause/play is pressed),

All in all it would require exporting around 180 new ON images, and editing 180 skin files, and done so so the PLAY icon co-exists with the pause indicator.

Sure it can be done, but it is a major task and a lot of time to say the very least.

if you use a indicator though it would be a fixed color, right, or is there a way around that?
I agree with Blue, not hearing music anymore is a good enough indicator for me.
