I agree - great work John! I don't use your skin, but admire each function you've added.. simply amazing. If your skin would look good at 768x1024 I'd be using it.

It can. I have a copy of DFX4 that I modified for 768x1024 that works well. Just takes some time to work out all the labels, flash boxes, aspect ratios, etc.

what i'm intrested in is how much faster DFX will be now most of the code is in a DLL.
i always found DFX to be a tad slow on occassions,,,,

It loads up much quicker, but is pretty much the same while it is running. The major contributor to the speed is the skin is transparent, and for some reason RR is slower to draw screens when they are transparent, verses using .jpg's for the skin.

Now an IMPORTANT NOTE:

There have been a LOT of new features to RR in the past 6 months or so, even in just the last couple of releases.

For DFX to function fully, the latest version of RR will be needed. There really is no way around this, and for the skin to move forward, it would make no sense to limit functions in the skin based on old RR versions.

Now that RR has the ability to turn off the nag screen permanently, there really is no excuse to not use the latest version.

good to hear , i understand the RR limitation with transparencey.....
never the less any kind of speed improvement is a bonus

THis might be an obvious question.

What is the upgrade process from 4 to 5?
Will existing settings be transfered, or wi'll we need to start over?

i wouldnt even use windows upgrade as it is from xp to vista or even vista to 7.... its always best to wipe clean and start fresh, that way you know any weird problems probably wont be resolved by a format that at that point you really wouldn't want to do.
