Ok, I just checked the latest stats. I have a small bit of code in the weather plugin for the skin that actually "Phone's Home" when the skin is installed.

THIS DOES NOT GATHER ANY INFORMATION, IN ANY WAY, no personal information, no IP address ect.

It simply loads an html web page on my server that has a php script that counts how many times the page has been loaded. This happens only once when the skin is installed, and then sets a flag to never do it again.

I just checked the stats on that page, and as of now, the skin has been installed 14,323 times! The downloads on the DFX download page register at 14,017. The extra 300 or so times it has been installed are from completely fresh uninstalls and re-installs. Being the numbers are very close, I would imagine it is fairly accurate within a thousand or so.

I put the code in there when I did dfx4, just to try to see how many people were installing it. Needless to say, I am floored and shocked at the totals!

I have always been grateful for the donations, and have thanked each and every person via email when a donation is made. So thanks to all of you again.

On the other side, if you take the total donations tallied up, and the times that the skin has been downloaded and installed, it works out to about 0.0432 cents per copy installed. (Less than a US nickel)

Again.... back to topic This skin is going to be released FREE OF CHARGE, and if someone wants to donate, they are welcome to.

I can probably account for 50 of those. Seems like I'm always re-installing.

Anyway, those are very surprising numbers, I am quite shocked.

The way RR has always worked is it saves ini's, settings, and all that stuff right in the programs folder. Win 7 goes about this differently and the info needs to be saved to a user/data directory for compliance.
I know that there is at least one component of DFX that will not be supported in Win 7, and that is the Jebus plug in RRVoice. If this is installed during DFX install, I assume that one would just go into the plug in manager and turn it off? Or has anyone experimented with replacing WIN 7 sapi with 5 or 6?

I tried RRVoice with Windows 7 and I could not get it to work (I tried to install Sapi5 but it failed). I tried a few different settings but it was not compatible. Jebus stated it might work and would not be supported from his thread.

I recently went back to XP after some other issues I experienced with Windows 7 for now until more things are worked out. Nothing with RR or DFX though...
    Gee

Now that RR is compatible (as far as I understand) with Itunes as the primary player, will DFX 5 also be Itunes compatible? I'd prefer Itunes to winamp if possible, but will stick to what DFX is happy with.

If not completely itunes compatible, I believe that Winamp can add itunes music to its library also.

i dont think the skin really cares what music player is used, if it is capable in RR.

If RRVoice doesn't work with Win7 that will be the straw that forces me back to XP

I understand Jebus' position, but what a limitation to his plugin that gets rave reviews.
