Not quite, Microsoft's support for the operating system is set to end in April 2014.

What is continuing is the ability for corporates to downgrade to XP until 2020

Probably something in the licence agreement allowwing them to downgrade will say that they must understand support may not be available.

Essentially they are purchasing a licence for Win 7 but if they wish they may use this licence to install and use XP at their own risk.

I would have guessed that a large number of users install offline and might never take their CarPC onto the interwebs. Interesting..

We all learn something new every day... I will also put to note that there were 612 visits in June to the bug tracker of which 2/3 was on a xp machines. 7/8ths of those people were using firefox to view the page. As it stands for the first two weeks this month, it's up to 126 views already... And in general, a vast majority were in the USA.

Ya, and please don't forget that new board, processor, and ddr3 ram....
Oh, and all new peripherals, cause there are no drivers for my "old crap"...
And, most of my apps will need upgrading...
Hmm, maybe this is how I will charge for my plugins, hmm...

Seriously, maybe some research into using SAPI 5.1 in Vista...err Windows 7.
Some one on this board, IIRC, posted that they had 5.1 running on Win7...
The other thing is, that to be truly Win 7 compliant, I would have to code RRVoice in .Net...

I believe that somewhere in the weather thread, John had told everyone a long time ago, about the "phone home code" in the weather plugin...

I always contribute in the best manner possible for the software I use. I sent John a HD radio just so he would get it working in DFX4.

As a fellow Washingtonian, what could I send to you that would help? I have access to a lot of Microsoft licenses, maybe a couple of mini-itx boards laying around, lots of networking gear.

BTW, I hear ya on the old crap not having Vista/Win7 drivers. I have thrown out my audigy NX and have had to upgrade all my USB to serial adapters to get them to work, and they still have issues, which reminds me, I need to send a PM to mitch.
TruckPC - gutted, being used for test setup
BoatPC - All in 1 in cuddy, N7 using VNC on dash, RR
    BlazerPC - Nexus 7 with Timur's USBROM

    Well Davedog,
    I really was joking...
Thats the thing about this hobby, There is such enjoyment to this, that I would never ask for a donation. Surprise me!
I would let John use my plugins, even if he did charge for DFX.
    After all, they are free...
