Umm wow that enhancer plugin is great!!! My sound is so much crisper now!! I need to peruse winamp's plugin site more often. Thanks John.

So speaking of having the ID3 tags properly formatted; might anyone have experience with, or suggestions for, apps that correct the tags?

Not sure about "correcting" tags, but I've used Tag&Rename to do some mass tagging of albums I have. It's not free, but it works great for stuff like that. It can do fancy stuff like rename filenames from the tag data, and also create tag data from the filename. There might be free stuff out there to do the same thing, I just don't have any experience with anything but Tag&Rename.

You need to thank kbreeden for that plugin suggestion, not me. Actually, I owe kbreeden a thanks as well I had to see what all the fuss was, especially with a 100k plugin. All I can say is WOW! ! ! ! What a difference that makes in the clarity of the mp3's! I have no clue how they are doing it, but it works, and thats what counts

Same here, Tag & Rename is the best of the best for tagging MP3's. I have been using it for years. There is a 30 day free trial to check it out.

As others have mentioned Tag & Rename is a great tagging program. It's mostly manual, though. If you have a whole lot of messed up tags, it could be a time consuming process to manually fix them.

For automatic tagging, I use Tuneup. You simply drag the dirty files into a separate window and the program tries to figure out what the songs are and then supplies the appropriate tags. It's not perfect, but in my experience it gets 90% or more correct. The free trial period lets you do 100 songs, so you can see if you like it.

I'm glad you guys like Enhancer. My jaw also dropped years ago when I first discovered it.

Hi, I've had this little problem with the music browser. I'm not sure if this is a RoadRunner or DX4 or something else. For some reason now while browsing threw folders (view) of music my double click no longer works. I am then forced to use the up and down arrows, and the select buttons to navigate around. I miss my double click. This has happened to two of my carputers. Recently the truckputer was updated to windows 7 and it was working for some time then bam it stooped. Now I have buggered around and few tweaks etc but it was working. Anyone have similar problem?

Winamp itself has an auto tag feature that works pretty well (if not especially fast). Just right click on any number of songs and hit "send to / auto-tag". I recommend doing songs in small groups as its easier to verify results and takes less time.

Once that's done I use tag & rename to rename the files based on the ID3 info gathered by Winamp.

just installed "Enhancer" and at least at stock settings im not impressed at all. the bass is extremely boomy and the treble is cranked too high. from what i can tell, its a dsp designed to make music sound better on small or low quality speakers. probably works well on laptops and such.

nothing ever beats a flat eq without any dsp at all if you have quality hardware.

To each his own. I drive a 2005 Acura TL which came with a very good sound system and I would not even consider listening to my carputer without the plugin.

Well if that is the case... you should not have a single mp3 file in your audio collection then as anything mp3'd, has meant that you have lost some of the audio quality in doing so.
