I am not sure that pc come with that wire. Maby the pre built ones or the oem built radios. But if you are buildking your own i am pretty sure you cant find a motherboard with that option. I am sure you can create one using serial port though. So it would have to be software driven like the gps as treetop said.

I did disable some GPS related features after I installed it(while searching for a way to change the boot splash screen)...must have somehow disabled it then...cool beans!!!

I believe that at some point John disabled it as the default. Further, I believe one must now choose to load the plugin during the skin installation process. So the status seems to be that one must now affirmatively choose to use it rather than affirmatively choosing not to use it. It has been quite a while since I've messed with it.

Well there is the problem

They were asking about the skin, and not a stand alone head unit, which is pretty obvious, as this is a thread about the skin. Actually, if you think about it, obviously the skin is working while driving from the wuestion, so that means they are using a VGA/RCA/DVI/HDMI in or something. A head unit would have no way to determine if you are viewing just the skin, or watching a video

This thread is definitely not just about the help file but it is a MAJOR part of keeping questions like:

- How do I minimize RR?
- How do I disable the video lock while driving

If the help file would have been consulted, then 24 of the last 32 posts would not have been necessary at all.

Here is an example from the help file that "really don't help much if you really don't know what you are doing" (quoted from a post by locks4days)
It describes the hidden area's on the main menu screens. It is in the help file under the section "How do I access hidden features?". It is also in the help file under the section "How do I minimize the skin?"

Ok, I do not see any graphics "overlapping" in those pictures. If you are talking about the little icons at the top of the screen, those are indicators to glance at to see if certain features are on or off.

As for the compass, I will tweak that for the next release.

I promise I read the help file twice...... how can I stop FBCONNECT (fusion brain??)
from loading I assume thats all it Is, and since I don't have one

......well I have a brain just not a fusion one

It seems RR is taking along time to load and I think maybe that may help if
it doesn't load, mabe it'll shave off a few seconds

Dawnn, don't get the wrong idea - this place is very friendly. There are many questions that aren't addressed by the help file that the folks around here are more than happy to help with. Unfortunately, I have never used the FB so I can't help with this one.

Well I believe that it is a plug in, so as with most plug ins, you can disable it in the plug in manager page which is on the menu 2 page by default on install.

A few weeks ago, I updated to RR 9/1 in preparation for DFX5. Everything was working fine with CarWings. I then installed DFX5 and had a few things change. I've got (I think) everything fixed except one thing. When resuming from suspend, the HD radio (Visteon) does not produce any sound. It's getting data from the unit as it shows the station and song info...just no sound. If I switch to another station, the audio comes back.

The Visteon is plugged directly into the audio in jack on the motherboard. So no USB issues.

Any thoughts?

Meisner have you upgraded RR to the Oct release? I use the visteon and I have no problems with resume. Another issue I just tested out for Mitch that he fixed but it's a minor one. I do believe the Oct release is better for DFX5 but I could be wrong, surely wouldn't be the first time.

To the thread: sorry about stirring up a legality debate. I wasn't sure if that was against the thread rules or not.

i saw where it said it is a plugin, but it does not show up anywhere in any
folder or the plugin manager, it looks like it is one of the first thing that loads
and that is where it hangs while it tries to load and then reports it as an error...
