Thread: iDrive - btbe's original version

I'm trying to do a phoco one, but because my RR will not communicate it's a bit difficult.


However I am playing with the new weather function

Well I press the buttons and nothing gets to Phoco, also the signal and battery levels aren't displayed.

phoco on it's own works fine.

I can communicate with Phoco from Hyperterminal fine as well.

but RR does not get anything or receive anything from phoco.

Anyways, maybe you can make a separate Zip with your weather stuff, I'll make one with my GPS stuff, you can make one with your GPS stuff and we can release patches... maybe btbe (or you or I) can make a little page for this skin... I really like it, although I still think it needs some major tweaking for best in-car use

I actually am comfortable with it for car use.

I have the sat icon set to go straight to GPS (think that was enabled anyway) but when it is in GPS mode it then acts as a reconnect button for freedrive after hibernate (although CDR has now fixed that)

I have it set so that pressing the song currently playing brings up the music browser.

I tried Hijacking the iRunner flash clock/logo, but it didn't look right.

There are a few other tweaks I am looking at.


Anyway it would be interesting to see if btbe has done anymore to this skin and see if his interpretations are anything like ours.

I must agree, this is a wery nice skin(probably beacause I'm a BMW-lower )

I really like it, dont get me wrong...

Here is what Im hacing a bit of difficulty getting used to (im using it in car right now):

-Volume - since this skin uses a (really pretty and nifty, i must say) menu for volume, it requires 2clicks for mutin/volume changes. This is a bit harder than what I hd in my previous skin (my own Range Rover styled skin - it had buttons for volume near the bottom of the screen, driver side)...

-small buttons for play/pause/next/prev - Im going to space them out a bit and make the area click larger - havent gotten round to it yet unfortunately...

-some stuff needs simplifying/changing... like Clicking on entertainment>mp3>then getting to audio, I think I´m going to make it go straight to MP3 when i go to entertainment, and have a Video/Other button.

basically this is it... I also wish it had a flashier logo area not just the main sreen (whyich has no song/street info)...

I also have a problem with the streetname scrolling on the top left... it scrolls and then restarts scrolling instead of just wrapping around and scrolling cotinously... I think this is a RR limitation/bug as the music title scrolls and wraps.... have to ask guino

Yeah I have to agree Roy, I love the skin, but the big thing that is a problem is the next track and previous track buttons.

I actually like the volume where it is, the only thing i'm having trouble getting used to is having to go through 3 screens to get places
