Liquid smoke, could you plz explain how to change the gps mode in your skin to Mapmonkey. Mapmonkey supports speed cams, which there is a ****load of here in Norway. Overall I think most european users prefer mapmonkey so would be of great use for many.

I tried modifying your skin files to accept mapmonkey withhout luck, seems like there is very specific strings and files that have to be changed.

I have Iguidance 3.0, and one issue that isn't a big deal, is the "CLOSE" button seems to be shifted up one pixel compared to the rest of "rwd play ffd att" buttons.

The other spacing issue is, there is around 5 pixels high, across the screen, at the bottom of IG3 (the ETA/REM/DEST/SPEED boxes), that is semi blank (I can see the faded road markings of the main screen in that area). This is a space between the close/rwd/etc buttons.

Is there an easy way to get rid of some of the extra menus (XM, WEB, etc?)

I'm running it at 800x600, and the only time I see it shift a pixel is when IG3 is embedded above. I tried the UMPC exe, and it looks too weird, buttons are huge, and take up too much room on my 7" lilliput. It does the same with either EXE.

Is this an IG3 issue or resolution? I don't see it in your screen shots.

just curious, what frontend are you comeing from?

i know what space your talking about in the gps screen, basicly the embeded windown dosent go all the way to the bottom because the onstate for buttons is 5pix bigger than the off state for buttons. This is for all buttons. This is by design. Shouldnt bother you too much.

The ATT button is the same as an ATT button on a hardware headunit. It basicly lowers the volume to about 5% on the first click, second click will return the volume to whatever % it was originaly. For times when you dont want to pause or mute but just quickly lower the volume for brief seconds.

Do you want to replace the extra menus or remove them completely? Not quite sure what your asking.

As for IG3, look for the next update to this skin, should solve those problems you have with the umpc version.


BTW, for everyone else the update should be comeing verysoon, its being beta tested now.

right now there is no support for mapmonkey in this skin. Its heavily setup to use IG2-IG3. I do plan on adding mapmonkey and or freedrive (not both) support for the Euro crowd. Everytime i set aside some time for it, something else comes up.

If you want to just embed your own flavor of any gps you want, basicly you edit ExecTBL.ini found inside the skins folder.

The command you want to edit is "GPS" if you need more help with that just chime in.

I've tried editing ExecTBL.ini, isn't it the one in the RR root folder that should be editited? I get error messages from skinbender even when I change ExecTBL.ini. Would help very if you could point to what lines that should be editied to embed correctly.

There are two ExecTBL.ini files
one in the root of RR install
and one inside the lsxvod skin folder. This is the one you want to edit.
Once you open it you will understand how to edit it.

Your initial hesitancy to move to IG3 made me curious "what does he mean", so I reall began to observe myself. I absolutely love the new UI, and it makes the CarPC tie-in a breeze (even if you don't like the art and have to change everything as you are doing). But that's the surface...

Under the hood something is way whacked..... I follow quite a few very common routes and IG2 would tell me make a bend, veer right, make a U-Turn.... like it actually knew what the hell was going on - then make a recalc. IG3 is simply (huhhh).... One would think its in the integrity of the Map Data - but one would also think the map data per the new IG3 download is more updated.

No lie - I am bordering on (so sad to say this) as finding IG3 eye candy but unusable....... LS - any more input on your observations? I've seen a lot of people post on concerns with IG3 - hoping to dload some new maps which would fix this but something ain't right......

Just wanted to give it some time before I commented but your input and that of others made me very curious....

IG3 update will be soon, 99%of it is done i had to do a lot of scripting (well not really a lot) to make up for some of IG3's shortcomings. As well as change some things in the GPS screen to adapt. There are other things i have to do in other areas of the skin before i release though, i dont want it to be just an IG3 update. I know a few people are waiting on some other things.
Found a few other small issues that i thought i fixed a long time ago.

DAMN this week has flew by!!!! just realised its Thursday now.
so much to do, so little time.
Ill be up pretty late tonite trying to crank out as much as i can, theres some other unrelated things i was supposed to do but didnt.

I am testing IG3 at the moment and so far I love it. I just started testing this morning so I haven't done a whole lot. This week I'll do more testing and see how it handles detours, reroutes etc. To me the UI changes alone is huge to me. I have the Alpine Nav in my truck and I love it. I've been looking for something like this and I think IG3 is getting close to it. With IGMon and LS mods I'm sure it will be great. I'll see how it compares with IG2 though. IG2 recalc was fantastic and fast. I hate the OSK in IG3! I also wish IG3 directions could be modified so it can either be less or more depending on your taste. For example when approproaching major intersections I would like it to remind me to stay on the road I'm on etc. Again something that my Alpine Nav does.

Let me tell you, I figured the NAV would have to be pretty damn bad for me to not love it. The UI is so perfect and tweakabale for CarPC. However - my routes are very basic and oddly IG2 handled zero issues...... I am not even being picky and sadly am at a point where IG3 is almost in the eye candy vs. functionality category for me I was bummed....

It's one of those things where people say - damn your GPS is stoned Where IG2 seemed to just "know" - one would think the code is almost the same and this would be a map-data issue, but IG2 maps dont work with IG3 and I downloaded fresh IG3 maps...

Let me know what you see... Don't want to "detour this thread" but LS did mention this and just wanted to chime in.

I was planning on completing my IG3 customozation when LS lanunches his mods and was much looking forward to them.

I'll try and get a test of this in today or tomorrow and let you know. Did you do a complete re-install of IG3?
