Okay for MS Streets as an external GPS (note make sure external GPS is checked in RR.ini file)..
Make a button call it "GPS" to call from various skins...
OPTION 1:
You can add the line below in the ExecTBL.ini file either in the RR folder or the skin folder depending if you want it in all skins or only one skin..
NOTE!! after the semi-colon of Streets.exe MAKE SURE to have a space before and after the hypen of - Microsoft Streets & Trips..
"GPS","LOAD;EXTERNAL_GPS.SKIN;STREETS;C:\Progr am Files\Microsoft Streets & Trips\Streets.exe; - Microsoft Streets & Trips"
OPTION 2:
add to the RR.ini file (Note see the screen capture "rr_config_streets.jpg" inside the zipped file posted earlier).
The later option works, if speech is enable it says "external gps"... the first option says "Streets"...
I preferred option #1
Now I tried to find the focus of the window when I saved templates and then trying to load them again but something with the hypen and space wouldn't load competely/correctly.
Like: "map1 - Microsoft Streets & Trips" or "map1.stt - Microsoft Streets & Trips" which in the later, wininpector show as the active window under the called template. Still No luck.
So what I did was to setup a running instance of MS streets, changing the map type, font size, zoom level, route options " like gas mileage, etc and then saved it under "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Streets & Trips\Templates" as "New North American Map.stt". Or wherever your MS Streets is installed to. This then became my default map for Streets.
This works on two different PCs..
Last thing to do is to auto-start GPS probably an AutoIt script of sometype..
Hope this helps someone in the future as I went through this throughly..
Note: My Street skin has changes in some of the command buttons instead of ALT+ in the sendkeys I used CONTROL+ as this embedded and had less flashing (popups) inside the skin. Not all buttons have a CONTROL+ function key available or Microsoft didn't show them in the help files..
