Hi ls,
I had a few ideas for the Nav screen. i know it's pretty close to release and this would push you back, but here goes.
It seems I'm always wanting more real estate on the screen for iGuidance. Would it be possible to have the nav come up in full screen first?
Now, I know this takes away the bottom menu for mp3's, so you'd have to find a way to replace it. I thought you might be able to make use of your "fly out menu" for this. Perhaps have one button for iGuidance options, another for music options, etc, down the left hand side of the screen. Make them semi transparant also to see the map below. Then remove the IG3 menu button and the mute button.
Basically, you'd have a full screen map with a few fly out buttons on the side that you would expand when needed. You'd jsut have to figure out where to put the song name.........................hmmm, maybe in a flyout box too (to allow users to turn it off when not desired)?
I find that IG3 fills up the 7" screen enough as it is with street name (wish I could remove that bar!), next turn, etc....
I'll try and PS up something to give you an idea if you like it.
Cheers
BJ

I was thinking the same thing...more map...less other stuff...
In fact, that is exactly what the new generation of Lexus Navs do. There is a single transparent button that brings up the Nav option menu along the bottom of the screen, hitting that button again closes the menu into that single button. While the Lexus Navi has "manual" buttons to control the Audio portion, the idea might work for Audio as well.

HI ls,
I know the "button illuminated after push" iisue has been adressed and posted in RR bug forum.
Here is a possible solution:
Button Focus Problem
Would this work with LS 2.02 and wich file should it be applied to? I can't seem to find the appropriate menu.skin file..............

which button is illuminated after you push it?
The only time ive ever seen this happen was a long time ago, guino fixed it in an update and i havnt seen it happen since then.
What i was doing when this was happening was to change the size of the skin from 800x600 to 800x599 in general.ini file inside the skin folder.
you can try that, simple fix or you can try the method in the link, which basicly disables the hover highlights and u only see when the button is pushed down.
also, i believe if you set RR to not show the mouse it may fix this also.
menu.skin is in the root of the skins folder. But know that there are at least 11 menu.skin files for the skin of which only one is used at any time. If you change the option at a later date for the main menu layout, you will have to reedit the files again.
i dont have a old copy of 2.02 right now, i would have to install it but the procedure is the same. So ill explain it using the file names for 3.0.
open menu.skin and the third line will look like this but slightly different file names.
MENU_EMPTY.png,MENU_OFF.png,menu_on.png,MENU_DOWN. png
the order of the files are
Empty Image
Off Image
On Image
Down Image
what you want to do is change the file name for the On Image to be the same as the Off Image.
save and you should be good.

the way the GPS screens are setup now, you have 4 choices as the default layout. Each layout has a different size for the map window as well as a fullscreen version as an option, so you can very well start GPS in fullscreen mode by default. With that said, currently the fullscreen mode does not offer any audio controls etc, just one button to exit back to RR.
as for the flyout menu, its actually being considered to be removed/replaced with similar/equal functionality. Its actually kind of a pain to maintain it as there are about 3-4 different versions of it that get called depending on what version of IG you are running and which layout etc.
But i may have to bit the bullet and stick with it if my other idea doesn't work out.

something like that is very easy to do, you would just simply replace the "date" label code for "gpsalt"
Something like this wouldn't be included as an option by default as i dont think enough people would use it, but it is something that you can modify your self very easily.
a simply search and replace operation in your favorite text editor would have it done quicker than it took to right this post.
I may add it as an option in settings somewhere though, maybe, if i can find a free button.

I'm runing the latest release of RR. It happens with other buttons, but mainly noticeable when hitting "close" on the audio screen causes teh "power" button on the main screen to stay illuminated.
I'l try the "empty" code. I saw all the menu skins and their codes, I was just hoping there was a master menu. Oh Well, time to start digging...........
Thanks for the advice
