just a small question to everyone..
how are people switching the day and night skins?
manually?
gamma control? This would be a good option, but it hangs on resuming untill the mouse is moved.
skippy_76 rr.ini settings? also good but on changing skins it leaves a grey box over half the sceen..
Some hidden LS setting i don't know about?
Ive asked this a couple pages back, and there was no real answer. ive tried the gamma control also, not what i was looking for. I just want it to automagikly switch itself. like when road runner starts to load, it auto checks time, and switches skin accordingly. Right now ive been switching back and forth between the two manually. If you find out how to make this seemless. let me know here. im sure there are others that would like this option also.Quote:

i have attached the alternative config editer that was around a while back which has auto the auto changing. but like i said earier this is seems to leave a grey box on the skin when changing then vanishes when i click something.. and it doesnt do it with other skins i have used.
also this config editer has the speed/gps setting which i think have been forgot about.
i believe RR will automatically switch the skin based on the time thats set in general.ini. I havnt ever tested this but i know thats what the time values in this file are for and there have been times when i load RR and its on the day/night version without me switching it manually, but this seems to happen randomly. So there may or may not be a bug with this somewhere.Quote:

note: there are multiple general.ini files related to the day and night version of the skin, so anything you want to change in the file you should also change in the other files so it wont get overwritten.
A few of the options in the OPT screen will copy over a new general.ini file. For example, when you click the 800x4800/800x600 button it will copy a new version.
The files that need to be edited are located in these paths.

no you arent missing anything, the idea is that those 2 screens are not the main screen, but extensions of the main menu. The reason they dont have the same information as the main screen is for a few reasons.Quote:

If you want to make those 2 screens the same as the main menu, its not hard to do at all.
The only difference between them is just the lack of the items in the middle of the screen. You can just copy and past them from one screen to the other using the RRSkineditor. If you need some help on this i can post a how to.
XMFAV: I do this for testing so i can see what the label looks like (dont have xm hardware) and i allways forget to remove the = sign, i do this every release :)
Flash Compass:, i did not create this element, this was given to me by JohnWPB.
There is a speedo at the top of the screen (non flash though)
There is also a flash speedo that's currently not being used but is still included with the skin. Its from an earlier release of the skin and at some point i decided not to use it anymore. The file name is speedo.swf in the skins folder. I may add this back, not sure but not any time soon.
Weather:
Ive seen the features you speak of. Its not hard to add them. I considered it a long time ago but always thought to myself, how many people on a regular basis drive far enough that the weather changes?
With that said, i had plans before this last release to completely redo the weather section from scratch! Due to release pressure, it got pushed on the backburner.
I still plan on doing a weather update though, so likely preset will make there way in there somewhere.
WinampTV: use the camera button. Its named camera cuz most people dont actually have tv in there car and use the plugin for backup cams. It does with with tuner cards though.

Well. I reinstalled RR to drive C and it stoped hanging on load with this version of skin. (Flash reinstallation didn't help)...
Also changed the font to Arial:B 'cuz the default shows cyrilic characters just as black boxes.
Now I can say that the new version is MUCH faster than previous. Great work.
I've got another bug though: in WEATHER section the "degree" symbol is whown as "?"... does anyone have a solution to solve this regional_settings_problem?
im going to shoot a pm to the author of the ratings plugin and see if anything can be done about the script requiring the default RR install path to work.Quote:

Not sure what can be done about the ? for the degrees in Weather. There was a thread addressing this issue but i didnt read into it much at all as i never had the issue. If you cant fix it, i would just delete that symbol altogether.

It seems good for the desktop, but a lot smaller than RRConfig and is prob a pain to use in the car. Still better than nothing though. I guess the size of ui items is a restriction of windows ui controls.
i really wish all the pieces were there to do a full config editor right inside of the skin. All the options can be set inside of RR. I believe the only major feature missing is a standard file browser inside RR to browse for paths. I have one integrated in this skin, but its not exactly what i would call a file browser, but it could be used easily for browsing for paths for the config setup. But the way the whole thing works is not idea for the task.
Still kind of confused as to why the config editor seems to be the biggest unsolved problem of RR.:(
