I am happy to report that guino's latest release of RR (12-06-07) seems to have fixed the Ilist locking the program issue with Void.

So far it seems all the ilist enabled main screens are working.

PS. Now, how's about a main screen with ilist only and no album art?
Can I just edit a menu.skin file to remove that component? (ie: rem a line or two out?) I've been digging around in the files a bit, but I'm no programmer and my coding experience is extremely limited so it's a bit of a mystery in most places to me..........
Albm art is cool and all that, but I've got so many files without art it would take forever to download and organize it all! (somewhere around 5000 songs)

make sure you add .exe files as an extention type in rr.ini
my setting looks like this
audiofiles=.m4a,.mp3,.wma,.cda,.aac,.rmj,.m3u,.MP4,.txt,.exe

and also make sure you have
hidedots=FALSE

those 2 things will allow you to see .exe files when you browse around etc.

Thanks man. I actually got it working last night. Wasn't sure how but you just answered it. I think that the same thing was happening with the other 2 buttons, themes and the background button. So setting the picture path should fix all 3 of those.

that makes since, since all three of those buttons use that path heavily. Esp the background (Images) button, its just the picviewer renamed to be IMAGES.

I actually found an issue with the colorpicker screen that may have been the real issue as the colorpicker does not actually use the picpath setting but the screen had some code in there to look for that path. So it was removed in the updated download and should work fine now.

the APPS button is to support RR's launchpath setting in rr.ini
If you look in the root of your RR install you should have a folder named LAUNCH that was created when u installed RR. Under that is a bunch of subfolders for each application and .ini files for those apps. If you setup the launchpath in rr.ini to point to that folder, items will show up in the list on the APPS screen. From there you can launch and embed multiple apps on the fly and switch between them. Its the area where you can build a long list of apps that you dont need to use on a daily basis, but when you do need to use them, they are there waiting.

To create a brand new playlist: Add as many items as you like to your currently playing playlist from the LIBRARY screen. Once you have all the music you want to save to a playlist loaded and playing. Click the PLAYLIST button on the LIBRARY screen.
Click SAVE
Type in a new name for this playlist.
DONE. You can have as many playlist as you want. You may have to reload RR before the new item shows up in the playlist screen, which is a known issue im looking into as the item should show up instantly without a reload. But from there the playlist is stored and retrieved from the playlist screen.
You can also at any giveing time click and hold the PRESET button on the audio player screen and it will save anything thats currently loaded as a PRESET item (1-5)

To delete a song from a playlist.
This maybe a little quirky as ive never done it but all the parts are there to do it, i think. As with everything else there are a few ways to go about this.
If you want to remove an item from the list of currently playing songs. Make sure have the updated download for the skin. Click the DELETE TRACK button and it will remove the selected item from the list. If you want to edit the list in a saved playlist, just go to the PLAYLIST screen and load any playlist file from the list. Click the DELETE TRACK button on any items you want to remove. Return to the PLAYLIST screen and click the SAVE button and if you type in the exact same name of the existing playlist, it will overwrite the old one or create a new one if its not named the same.

To add items to a saved playlist,first load up that playlist, then you follow pretty much the same format as above, except instead of using the delete track button, you use the APPEND SELECTED button on the LIBRARY screen.

Hope that all makes sence. I entend to make some videos of things like this in the near future. Just havent found the time to do it yet.

by default the skin supports PhoneControl (PhoCo) but i really cant suggest using it as its a huge pain to setup and over time you will likely spend more time screwing with that than you have on anything else related to your carputer including setting up the carputer itself. Its a huge time hole where precious hours of your life never come back or add up to anything meaningful.

Ill make a write up (this weekend) on how to setup Freefone with the skin so it works the right way.
The last question is better answered in another thread.

Yes the new download is on the site, file size is around the same as before but not exactly.
I did just rem out the lines for the list so you should be able to just remove the / and re-enable them.

I know with a huge library of no art, its gonna take a while to get it all in line. But trust me its worth it. I had the same problem a long time ago. There are a few apps out there that will help you get things in order. There are a few threads on the subject that list recommended apps to use to help get it done.

now to go try out the new ver of RR and i guess update the download again to have the ilist enabled. Actually i think ill just post a download that will have just the menu skins that you can copy over the skin. Really makes no since in updating a 100mb file for a 1k file change. So ill just post a patch called "enable ilist" for those who dont want to screw with hand editing the files etc.

i have just installed the 3.0 version...
when i open RR the message "c:\......skin\... does not contain a valide skin, please check your setting"

i had also update the audio_player.skin for idle time out...and i just installed the "webplugin.exe" in the RR root directory..

does anyone know the problem?

Looks like you have the skin path set incorrectly in RRconfig................

Actually, a fair portion of my music has album art embeded. I've just always had trouble with getting it to display properly. It's probably a problem on my side of the equation. It seems that RR won't display the embeded art or it grabs the first jpg it comes across in the media path and displays that for everything. It does this whether I have my music divided into folders or all in one folder.
I've used both media monkey and "album cover art downloader" to try and embed jpg's with unsatisfying similar results.
It's such a pita to get working that I think I'd rather just do without sometimes. I know it should be a simple process, but I just can't seem to get it working satisfactorily for me.

but you're right, it is nice when it works properly though..............

*edit- a quick search seems to reveal I don't have the mp3art plugin............perhaps I'll Dl it and give that a try. I do believe it is required for RR to read the tags..............*

If freefone is hard or bad to embed, maybe RRMobile will be an option for embedding in this skin?
