Well I tried this on my way home, but when I un-commented the IL line in the menu skin it freezes at the moment it tries to load the start screen, seems like my RR for some reason don't like iLists, I uncommented the IL lines in both the audioplayer and the library skin file and now it doesn't freeze anymore...
Going to try and find some threads that adress this problem... can't be just me!![]()

Havent had any luck getting CDRIP to work in LSXVoid3.2
I tried BMV2 and it worked perfectly - so I know the plugin is setup correctly. Can anyone else check that their CDRIP works pls.
Also, is there any way to abort the RIP? or can you just take the CD out and it doesnt crash RR? Id prefer if there was a STOP button somewhere infact.
Thanks
The issue is the last line in the debug file, Error on InitDX which means your DirectX is failing to execute. If you are using remote desktop software to log into the machine this is likely the reason you get the DX error. If not using remote desktop, its likely some issue with your video card or its drivers etc.
The download has been updated a while ago to not have commented out lines, people just have to re download it. If there are ANY lines commented out in your skin you DO NOT have the latest version. Also, if your RR crashes on startup with ilist you do not have the latest RR either.
There were never any lines commented out in the audio player or the library screens.
So im not sure what lines you uncommented out as there weren't any to begin with, so u more than likely broke something.
CDRIP is broken because it needs to be updated to support the latest version of RR skin engine.
For whatever reason, recently there was a change to the header information(first 2 lines) for .skin files when they are saved from the RRSKineditor.
It used to look like this:
MEDIACAR Skin
MEDIACAR CDRIP Skin
But now it looks like this:
RoadRunner Skin
RRScreen CDRIP
even though, in the skin editor it still displays the old method but secretly uses the new method when you save the files, which is annoying.
So any old RR plugins that use the old header lines will fail to load.
To fix this, you can manually edit the cdrip.skin file and copy the first 2 lines to say MEDIACAR instead of RoadRunner.
The reason why your BMV2 skin works is because that skin is ancient and hasn't been updated in ages and still uses the old headers.

i have joost invites, just hit me up for one.
the day version is not something im currently working on at the moment. I still havent settled on which method im going to use to do it.
Either
1) create a new skin that has all new graphics for daytime(like the last daytime ver).
2) modify the existing 3.x version so it can do into a daytime mode where the fonts, colors ect are changed.
3)modify the old ver2.x day skin to support the 3.2 code
#1 is extremely time consuming.
#2 is a better option but i ran into some snags in an earlier test with the font color groupings so this could also be very time consuming to fix
#3 could work but so much has changed since 2.x its likely to be more time consuming than #1 and #2
so either way you cut it, its not a quick job. Also i just worked over 60hours this week so finding the time to start the day version is also very hard and likely wont happen until after the first of the year. Now dont take that as the day version will be started on the first or available on the first, i just wont even start to think about it till after then. Its extremely low on the priority list.
Now something that those who desperately need a day version can do to help me to come up with the contrast levels that are good enough for you to see things in your car. This is the first step in deciding which option 1-3 is the better choice.
What day version skins that are out that you can test in your car are good ones. When i say good, i dont mean any of the features of the skin or its layout, im concerned only with readability of the text and visibility of the items in the interface. Rate how good you think the skin is.
useable,
good visibility
perfect visibility
At some point, im going to create a screen in an update that will be a dayversion visibility testing screen. In there people will be able to go to the screen and rate its visibility. If you have a net connection in the car you can send the rating info directly to me and if not u can email it later.
This will collective let all those concerned be a direct influence on the visibility and contrast of the day skin. So those that plan to use it are strongly encouraged to participate when the time comes.

yup, probably something with DirectX, going to try and reinstall that tomorrow.
Downloaded it just 3-4 days ago and the IL thingy n the menu.skin was commented, uncommenting that one made it freeze when loading the skin, putting back the / made me able to enter the skin again!
As I said... it's just the built in graphics adapter so I dont think theres any newer drivers for it, and yes... I have the newest version of RR (13 dec release)...![]()

Yeah. iknow it's alot of work. Heck, making the jpegs alone wold be really time consuming. I was just wondering if you had anything "in the pipe".
S'cool. you get to it when you get to it. As I said, I was just wondering
That sounds like an awesome idea. Might be a bit of a nightmare to administrate though. I'll be waiting for the "survey" skin.
Hmm........
I may have a go at altering the 3.2 jpegs to a day skin and see how it looks. I'm no expert a PS, but I'm no slouch either.
That, and the text color, might not look too bad.
Of course, this would only be for my personal use.
It's too bad the night version isn't more daytime freindly. It's probably the best looking skin out there.
Cheers

I had a similar problem. Running RR starts off with no iList runs, then press the AUDIO and it freezes. Debug shows the same initDX error.
What worked for me was changing the settings in LogMeIn, which is a free remote desktop webapp. If you happen to be running this, go into the Preferences>Remote Control Settings and uncheck "Use Mirror Display Driver".
If you're running some other kind of remote control program, look into something similar.
Works for me perfectly now.... at last!![]()
