I really cant see why the fonts wouldn't install only for you though, even with tinyxp.

Did you download any versions of the skin before the date posted on the last update? In previous versions of the file, there was a button at the end of the install that you had to click to initially setup the skins default vars. At first this was done automatically, but then i made it a button , then i changed it back to automatic. Is it possible that you skipped this step in setup?

In either case i would recommend downloading the version thats there now, and reinstall it. That goes for anyone who downloaded the skin before the links were taken down. The version number is the same but things are changed and fixed a few bugs, including one crash bug.

Well that didn't help either, all the fonts was already installed...
I've never had your skin installed earlier so that can't be the issue either...
Noticed two more things today... one is that when I installed it in my car I had the same problem, but also the startup screen filled the entire screen but the skin itself had a transparent area at the bottom...
And at last, sometimes I'm missing some graphics... look at the attached image!

the area at the bottom (in your car) is not transparent. You need to set the screen size for the skin to match your screen res. While inside the skin, click the OPT button>choose 800x600.

You dont have any graphics missing, its an autohide feature thats only available when you click OPT>second page>"CLEAN" option. There are 11 options on this screen that change the main menu from slightly to empty. Just choose a different one if you dont want it to autohide.

Do you have tinyxp installed on more than your carputer? Are both the machines you've tested this on useing tinyxp?

Post a screen shot of the audio player screen.

In your screenshot, those numbers on the bottom use the Webdings font. Double check that its on your system in ControlPanel>Fonts
With this new 2.0 version of the skin, the only new font is the lsxvoid.ttf, all the other fonts have been used in the skin for many, many months now.

in a few im going to make a special skin that will test out the fonts on your machine. This way i can narrow whatever your issue is down to either a problem with the skin or a problem with your setup.

OK, here is the worlds smallest RR skin

FONT TESTER

install this the same way you would a normal RR skin.

There is absolutely nothing fancy going, no 800lines of commands or scripts etc, as basic as it can get.

load this up and post a screenshot

Well, I'm 1 for 3 getting this skin installed. The good news is that it installed perfectly on my CarPC. However, on my Dell D600 laptop, I'm getting the error from the anti-virus shown in the earlier post. This is a work machine, so I have to use the A/V they have installed. I'm not so concerned about installing on this machine, so no big deal.

I also have a HP Pavillion dv6000 laptop that it gets stuck, right after the last next to start the install (screenshot attached).

I've installed other skins on this machine with no problems.

This skin is blowing away anything I have used the past. I just want to be able to run on my laptop to learn how to use it to it's full potential.

well at least it installs on the car machine, which is likely the most clean computer. Im not sure whats stalling the installer on some machines, the other guy was using vista. Its definately something thats on the machine thats causeing the issue. I tested the installer on a fresh copy of WinXP and Vista (RTM) using vmware.

Can you disable the virus scanning while you install, then turn it back on, or try safe mode.

In a day or two, there will be another skin update that changes quite a few things around.

also, you can always copy the skin from your car install and put it on the other machines. If you do this, you'll have to grab the font installer on the skin download page and also manually register the .dll files found in LSX_VOID_NIGHT\pluginDLLs
you also want to run "LSXVOID_DEFAULT_SETUP.exe" on the other machines, you should find this file in the root of your RR install on your car.

I may even write a new installer in autoit since the free one i have seems to be causing some issues for some people.

the file that you get the virus warning about was compiled a long time ago with an older version of autoit that had an issue with virus scanners detecting some compiled scripts as viruses. I just recompiled it using the latest autoit so it shouldnt give any problems in the future.

Hi again LS:

Just wondering if the opening screen can be easily resized like the rest of the skin or if I will have to PS a custom image? (my xenarc will only work with 600x480 with my current chipset, changing that soon!).
I just manually entered the size in the skin and all is well except the "initializing" screen (the lx void, starting winamp, etc screen).
Sorry, that's probably a pretty newb type question but it's late and I can't quite seem to wrap my head around it.

no, for the splash screen you have to manually resize it.

well here comes a load of screens for you... and yes, in my carpc I'm using tinyxp beast edition to get it to run a bit faster and on my laptop I'm using some kind of huge pack that autoinstalled everything!

I have allt he webdings, windings and other fonts and they work... posting a screen of that 2...

i dont know whats wrong wit ur systm, here is what yourscreen shot lshould look like.

either there is som problem wi ur computer , its not showing any of the dingbat fonts.

you can make a simple test ur self on any skin and change a font towingldings and it will not show. weird, i think us shold try to test on a compter with, normal computer.
