iG4 is not igNative compatible... it'll probably be some time before that happens.

I am actually supprised to hear that, they must have made some major changes. So far, iGuidance window name has not changed, until now it seems.

As for DigitalFX and iG4, yes, when I can get the money together to do the upgrade, I will definitely try to work it out, as it is something that I also want for myself

Things are calming down a bit on the new home front, and hopefully here soon I can get back to working on the skin a bit. I have a couple of new things I would like to add... I will tell a bit more about it in the coming weeks.....

O.K., I understand that it may be awhile before attempts to integrate iG4 into DFX begins, and then maybe alot longer before it is usable. Can you explain what "igNative compatible" means, or direct me where I can find out for myself?

iGNative is a option inside of Roadrunners source that makes RR able to correctly embed and control iguidance. It allows such things as automatic switch to GPS screen upon entering guidance mode and muting the music while directions are being spoken.

Ah! Yes, thank you. I see why it is important.

This might be a stupid question, but, reading about iG4 not being iGNative, I take it that the iG stands for iGuidance. Does this therefore mean that any other map software will not embed properly and fully into RR

Not at all. Road Runner can embed just about any program. When a program is embedded, it means just that, it is "locked" into an area of the skin that is defined. For Instance Windows File Explorer can be embedded into Road Runner.

But, just because it is embedded does not mean Road Runner can control it. Using Windows Explorer as an example, can you immagine trying to click on the toolbars, icons and files on a 7" screen? Not to easy to say the least

Thats where Road Runner has internal code to work directly with certain programs. Programs like IE, FireFox, iG (iGuidance), Map Point ect. With the extended code in Road Runner for these app's, you can skin buttons that can directly interact with the program better suited to a small screen.

Going even one step further, there are add on scripts. For instance DigitalFX has a few scripts that can extend the control of iGuidance even more. For instance there is one script, that with the click of the "Fast Food" button on the iG Pop-up menu, will show the closest Fast Food restaurants y distance. The script actually sends the commands to iGuidance to traverse the menu's to take you to that screen automatically. With out the script, you would need to press Menu, choose Destinations, click on Points of Interest, Then click on Restaurants and finally scroll down to Fast Food and click OK. The less presses you have to do on the screen, means the more time you can keep your eyes where they belong.... on the road

I hope this helps to understand it.

Were does it get the information about album names, artist names, because inside of winamp every thing is labeled but some of my music shows up in RR with just song title. is this a Skin issue or a RR issue? or is it an issue with the way the mp3 file is named?
