    GPS Weather Help

Can someone help me with the following issues:

    1. How do you enable GPS weather through the GPS receiver?
I changed the GPS weather button in the GPS weather menu to GPS it that an issue?

    2. The City, State, Zip in the GPS Stats menu does not work. Ever thing else, compass, Lat, Log, ALt, etc. works just fine

    I have localdatacaptureinterval=1 in the rr.ini file.

I noticed an entry in the RR Config file under Weather, I tried entering Chicago, IL and leaving it blank but both with no avail.

    Thanks for the support.

    Getting the skin rolling again....

BabBam, I have no clue what could be causing that, as I have never seen it. It seems to be something system wide/specific since it is happening on different skins. Sorry wish I could be of more help!

esko, Make sure you are using the Road Runner version that came with the skin, that was placed on your desktop. The changes for GPS weather have not been implemented into the latest official build of RR yet.

Ok, I have started to work on a couple of new features for the skin. They are a ways down the road, as there are many issues and things to work out. One is a much improved search for finding a song, genre, most played songs ect, on a new pop-up menu that will appear when you press the search button. This pop up will give you a lot of control on how and what to search for.

The other, is total eye candy Work has started on implementing a flash applet that emulates the way the album art works on the iPhone. Right now, in the below screen capture you can tap the albums on the left and right to bring them to the center, or use the scroll bar to rapidly move through the library. So far, thats it. No playing or anything else, but it's a start!

To get an idea of how it works, check out THIS LINK for a live version of it on the web.

I do not know when this will be completed, as I am not the one programming it. I just downloaded some of the code to test it out, and I personally can not wait to have this working! So trust me, when it is working you guys will know, as it will be implemented ASAP! It's nothing personal, but asking me when it will be done, will result in a blank stare, as it is simply not up to me hehehe.

    Ok, I have a question :-)

Do you need a wifi connection to use the weather plugin or can it pull it from the gps ? Or does the gps only give weather for the location of the gps ?

You need to be connected to the Internet to get weather. Can be Wifi, air card, dialup, whatever as long as you're connected.

Yea, for new GPS users, that was never really clarified. GPS is only capable of giving your location in 3D space, and also carries the time and date.

The GPS weather works by getting your location, comparing it to a database to see what town you are in, and then uses that town name to go to weather.com and pull the info into Road Runner.

On a total side note, I was in Brookstone yesterday, and they had a kewl little LCD clock / weather device that gets the weather forecast from towers in the US. It shows the 5 day icons (today and 4 days in advance), much like the way the RR weather is laid out in the extended forecast screen. The little sucker sells for $85 which seems a bit steep to me. Would be nice to have a PC device that could pull that information in!

Well that takes care of my issue All this time I thought everyone here were only using their GPS devices to get Weather, Location, and Gas WITHOUT internet connection. ( I was at the point of purchasing a new GPS unit because I though mine sucked!) It turns out mine works just fine when connected to the interned.

    Thanks for the clarification.

However, I still have trouble with the City, State, Zip in the GPS stats page, Everything else appears just fine.

    Any thoughts on this?

Thank you sir ! I figured that there needed to be a wifi connections for the weather to work. I geocache and never heard of a gps unit that can track weather, so this is why I was confused.
