This may be of some help. A while ago I spent a long time getting all of this data correct. Actually if you remember this was for the same piece of software that I asked about sueing in another state. I hope somebody will get to use this since that deadbeat still hasn't payed me my money.

Attached is every zip code in the US as of like 1998 so there are some missing, but those that are there, it is accurate.

The file you posted above is in the wrong format.

The format of the Zips.Dat file is:
    Code:
    "33463","+26.595537","-080.129065","LAKE WORTH","FL","PALM BEACH","STANDARD"
Your data file is in this format:

    Code:
    "12","33463","FL","LAKE WORTH",80.130503,26.609609,28841,0.002229
Being the information is out of order in the lines, this will prevent it from working with the GPS gas, or the City, County, Zip Code labels.

It would take a very simple program to read in the file and switch the lines.

I found a file on the US Census site, and that mixed with the original file, and the file posted by Toaster (I will put it in the right format), it should be significantly improved, though not perfect.

    playlists:

i seem to have a problem using them. i have created a couple of playlists, and managed to save a new one using this skin, however i cannot load a new skin.

from memory (i am at work now)

i click on browser at the bottom of the screen, then clicked on "load playlist", then clicked on the name of the playlist i wanted to load, then clicked on "load" at the right of the screen.

it didn't load the new playlist (nor did it drop the old one), everything stayed as is.

    any pointers?

when that is done be sure to post a new thread about it because zips.dat is used by about everyone in some form or another and will continue to get more features.

EDIT: Hey john... do you have any further need for the "reminder" stuff u wanted me to add to road runner? Just wondering if i should continue developing it.

Tagging Problem May not be skin related

when it start my comp. and rr tags are fine display where they should be ,after the first track or i move to another track it all displays under the artist name.
On indoor comp. everything is fine, but i think its useing the internet to display.

    i know this much :
    album folders correct
    winamp media libary correct

i don't have any playlists made as i don't use them or JTF as i don't like it always display wrong.
i opened winamp View info and check the tag info and thats correct in both formats.

the only thing that displays tags correctly for me is el's simple tag editor.

    any ideas

    Latitude and Longitude reminder

Yes, I personally do, but to get some ideas from others, I post this question:

Would you like the ability to set certain points, using Latitude and Longitude, and know when you are "in range" of that location, and have that code built into Road Runner? (Pressing a "Save Location" button could pop-up an OSK to name the location, and save it for further reference) You could also sit at home and build the .ini "Database" with key places in your area, and then just transfer the .ini file to the car.

    Examples of use would be:

-Warn you a half mile before a toll road so you can get change out in time
-Tell you are approaching a tunnel so if you are on the phone, you don’t just get cut off, and also warn you about iminate GPS dropout.

-Warning you of a known speed trap area
    - Set gas station location on remote roads, to warn you if say you are passing the last gas station for a couple hundred miles, to remind you to make sure you have enough gas.
-And one of my favorites! “Tourist mode” Liquid Smoke thought this one up. You could have area’s set up, that when you were driving, fire a script to speak commands to you, based on your location. Such as “Attention the house where Charlie Brown was born is the large yellow and black house coming up on the $direction$ side” ($Direction$ being Left or Right, calculated based on your direction of travel)
-Using scripting and putting the date in the notes field, you could have reminders / events only on certain days. The script fires, looks at the date today, compares that to the notes field and could come up with something on your drive home, and you get close to where you should turn to go to your bank. It could trigger something like “Today is Friday, remember to stop at the bank” Or leaving work could trigger “Today is Wednesday, remember to pick up little Johnny from soccer practice”
-(Tossing the data to a script and doing some time calculation) On the way to work “Dunk N’ Donuts is just ahead if you want to stop for coffee. You will have to make it quick though, as you only have 17 minutes to get to work” Or on those off days, “You do not have time to stop for coffee this morning or you will be late for work “
    - Your car "Knowing" that you have pulled into your driveway at home, and can trigger events, such as syncing files, uploading info to your wireless network such as GPS tracks or anything else to a folder on a HomePC.
    - Road Hazard warnings, such as area's of bad road, Bridges that can potentially ice in cold weather, dangerous intersections ect.

With the code built into Road Runner, the sky is the limit to what could be done, based on the ini file that contains the Lat & Lon for a location. It could speak to get your attention, take you to any skin screen, a Pop-up window, a .wav file played... ect ect. The type of action taken, based on the location, is also saved in the ini, so a different action can be taken for each event. For instance, if you are approaching an area you have deemed as a speed trap, and ONLY if you are going over the speed limit, or no matter what speed you are going (All set in the .ini file) a skin with a large display of your speed could be shown for a given number of seconds, before returning to normal RR operation.

So, what does everyone think of this, would this be something useful added into Road Runner?

Do we have a place to store the backgrounds/logo's people are using? With the many skins going transparent we would probably have lots of choices. Screenshot via VNC:
