I thought when reading the first post asking, it might have been due to the rating plugin, but you tried that. I have learned I just have to pause the music, if I need to do something in the background with RR minimized....

OK, here's the first attempt at a zips extractor. The way it works is as follows:

- Edit the states.dat file to include the states you want. It's obvious once you open the file, but you put the 2-letter code for each state you want...one state per line. Use ALL CAPS for the state code.

- Execute the zips.exe tool like: zips master_zips.dat zips.dat

This will open the master_zips.dat file (the full database) and create a new file named zips.dat containing just the states you want.

It has been tested in various ways on my system, so please try it out and let me know if anything is wrong.

My only complaint would be that there isn't any gui. With just being able to select which states and then a "Go" button...

Beats, my 3.5hrs for all states...LOL

I thought about that for about 30 seconds...and then thought I just didn't have the time right now to do a GUI. This tool is extremely simple to use...and it runs quickly.

I am a device driver developer...GUI's are not something I usually concern myself with. But I could put one together if people really want one. I thought people wouldn't really care since it's a one-time use sort of tool.

Well then, I'll just use you 30 seconds and presto...

It just use's your exe, and adds a gui for it, a FE if you will.

If a zips.dat file is found in the same folder and it's bigger than 9000000 bytes then it renames that file to Master_zips.dat

Just make it more out of the box friendly

Edit: removed my version as Wiseguy above, must not have liked mine and included one with his, tiss still ok though...

Here's an updated version of the zip code extractor....with a GUI.

I just finished writing and building it. I did some basic testing, so let me know if you see anything wrong with it.

It would also a good idea to go ahead and include this with the next release if it includes this feature, Or at least included in with the zips.dat file rar, credit going to wiseguy(meisner) of course....

Once this feature get out and gets used more, this extra added time you spent adding that GUI will make easier for anyone to use and will lessen the "how do I"'s.

So, how long did that GUI take you??
