    Hi guys

    I'm having a very n00by problem.
I downloaded the digitalfx skin from johnwpb.com
I ran the installer, blah, blah. It gave a reminder telling me to copy the contents of a file placed on my desktop to my rr.ini file.
However, I cannot find any rr.ini file on my computer after the install.
I tried copying the RoadRunner.exe to C:\Program Files\Road Runner and then trying to run it, but it just gave me an error about the location SKINS\Alpine not being a valid skin location.

I'm certain that I'm doing something stupid here but my searches and reading of this thread and the help file have so proved fruitless.
    Thanks

You have to first make sure that you install RR with the installer located HERE.

After that is installed, then you need to install the DigitalFX skin. Once all is installed, RR will default to the skin that came with it. You will need to open rrconfig.exe in the Road Runner folder, and change the skin path to the DigitalFX skin.

    This should get you going.

rr.ini only exits after you first run RRconfig. This must have been a first time install of roadrunner, thats probably Y you couldn't find it.

Guys I got the skin up and running. I pretty much had to re-load my RoadRunner. I guess I had an old version but its up and working. It looks awesome.

The only problem I'm having is little things with the buttons. For example if I'm on the music player screen and I press the EQ button it reduces my RoadRunner and I can still hear the music playing but I have a blank screen and I cant restore RoadRunner to the screen. I have to bring up the task manager and close RoadRunner and re-start the program. I'm going to do a search on this and hopefully I'll find an answer. But thanks for your help guys and Donation coming your way JohnWPB Great work bro.

that is actually a bug in my last release, pressing ESC will bring RR back into view. This is fixed, and the next update will be soon.

    New zip code lookup DLL

OK Guino is going to modify RR to use the faster zip code lookup DLL I wrote if it present in the RR directory. This gives the ability to add the functionality just by copying the DLL in place.

One interesting thing he mentioned was that even with the 8+MB zips.dat file, he was seeing quick lookups..nothing like the 75+ second lookups I was seeing. I know Kbreeden (in post 1906) and Esko (in post 1923) were mentioning lengthy lookup times. Using the DLL, my lookups went down to < 5 seconds.

Is anyone else seeing long lookup times using the large zips.dat?

Well, that question that I would have, is that interval that the lookup is set to, going be be less than the currently min that we can set it to now, which is 1 min. So, <5 secs to get the data or 45 secs, it wouldn't mattter as the labels still only get updated >=1 min, or is that going to change. I think that I recall that being mentioned...

I think he meant more that when RR tried to look up his current zip code in the zips.dat file, it took 75 seconds for RR to return a result, even though it was requesting the information every 1 minute, it took an additional minute to actually get the info.

Now, changing the update interval would be nice.

I would say like a 15 or 30 sec interval added, don't really need rr to be doing nothing but looking up zip data.

Right...I had the RR update interval set to 60 seconds. What I was seeing was an update after 135 seconds (60 seconds for the delay and another 75 seconds for RR to go through the large zips.dat).
