    2. At one point something happened that appeared to corrupt my rr.ini. When I tried to load RR it wouldn't load and I got a funny screen. I then went into rrconfig and redesignated DFX as the skin to use and RR then loaded properly.

    3. When running RR/DFX/ig4, every now and then my route will cancel for no apparent reason.

    4. Though I can create, save and load playlists, the process doesn't appear to be as stable as it once was.

There have been so many changes lately (new RR version, new DFX version, new RRConfig, upgrade to ig4) that I don't know how to begin troubleshooting.
wow you hit all 4 of the points that i'm having trouble with also. With #4, sometimes RR will just crash after you press OK after rating a song. I have had #3 happen before its a pain in the *** to have to go to recent destinations while driving. And this only happened when you go back and forth from a few screens.

if you (like me when i first installed ig4) havent adjusted the volume in ig4 you must do this to get RR to recongize when iG is speaking. Turn the volume down within iG to 3-4 bars then test the mute feature.

    cant help with that

I had this problem too with iG3. Unfortunately i dont remember what the problem was.... but for some reason auto screen switching would CLOSE ig4 and restart it the next timet he gps screen was called. It appeared as if the route was just bein cancelled but there's no hotkey to do that so thats not the case. Try making sure that you have iguidance 's window name (iGuidance) in the embedded apps section of the rrConfig.

    4. Though I can create, save and load playlists, the process doesn't appear to be as stable as it once was.

again.. cant help there.. i'm not having playlist issues.. tho honestly i'm not using dfx

PS. The only thing that gets written to the registry is the added settings for the actuall config, nothing else.

What RR verion were you running prior to using the new config. There are reasons the config did what it did. As of the 9-2 RR Release, when using winamp, now requires the dll file that the config both DL'ed and registered for you.
Blue- Looking at the above entries shows the reason why I posted here intentionally. I wasn't (and am still not) convinced the problems I am seeing are related to just your config tool, but maybe the new version of RR, DFX or the config tool. I am seeing so many problems I am not sure how best to attack this.

I just spent 30 minutes out in the parking lot trying to figure out why ig3 is working, but GPS Stats is not. I restarted, checked the virtual com ports created by Xport, and used a gps tool to show the data is coming in.

Right now I am looking for ideas on how to attack this becasue it's unusable the way it is now.

I am thinking of copying my entire Road Runner folder in Program Files to a backup folder, perform an uninstall, delete the Road Runner folder and reinstall everything.

Ok, this is NOT to shift the problem away from the skin..... IN any way.

I can say that the way the playlists are loaded and saved, and the way the songs are rated has not changed in any way in the skin from the last version of the skin. All of this code in the skin to do this has been in the skin since around January.

The code for ratings songs, was written by SonicXtacy, and has been working since implemented months ago.

As for saving and loading playlists, that is simply internal RR commands, and no scripts is involved in any way regarding that.

Blue has done an amazing job on the new config utility, and he is fixing every issue within mere hours, if not minutes when they are reported. It is thorough, and includes all of the commands that the original config did not have, plus all of the new stuff as well.

That said, I did have some issues with the new config changing some things in the rr.ini, causing RR not to load, the auto volume to stop working ect. I have not been able to track down what is causing it yet. In the mean time, I reverted to a previous RR.ini that I had, and am for now using the original config utility. I am doing this as I do not want to introduce whatever is causing the problems with the skin when it is released. All of the setting pertaining to the digitalFX skin, are saved in the skin.ini and are unaffected. Items such as GPS paths, auto volume and all of the "main RR stuff" has to be saved in the rr.ini.

Ok... to leave this post on a very good note. Here is a preview of things to come. Guino is working hard on this, and it is not ready for release yet. So whatever you do, do not go asking him "When will this be ready?" "Is it done yet"? "When will you release it?". hahah just let him work on it in peace, and he will release it when he has it all ready.

I know the problems coming up lately are not simple code changes that were done. I believe it is an interaction problem between different modules. For example, last time in the car, I could not get any MP3's in a playlist at all. Also, the GPS Stats was not working. I then selected XM, which worked, then shutdown and restarted RR. Guess what came up...a playlist of MP3's!! Not XM (which should have been resumed)...not a blank playlist like before...oh and BTW, I couldn't start the player. I had a list up, but hitting 'play' did nothing...no sound.

These are the sort of weird problems that have been coming up. I may see something once, then never again.

And believe me, there is no where near enough data to start blaiming particular components.

Just so there is no misunderstanding, I am not by any means complaining. There have been so many huge advancements in many components over the last few months, that there are bound to be growing pains. I'm encouraged that other people are having similar issues because I know it's not just some screw up I did.

@John, the new scroll feature looks way cool. When's it going to be released?

@Sonic, were you having the iG route cancellation problem with iG3 as well as 4? I never had an issue with 3. I do have iGuidance set as the window name and don't have any embedding issues. Regarding muting, I have tried every volume combination possible and still no joy.

@Meisner, the com port settings continue to be rock solid for me with Xport. It does sound like your com port settings in Xport are not correct.

    Meisner, give this a try:

Open iGuidance outside of RR. Go to tools/GPS Options/autodetect. After a minute or so it will tell you what com port iGuidance is using. That's the port your GPS receiver is using and should be the port set as input in Xport. Exit iG. Now in Xport set the input port to the port determined above. In Xport hit scan. Then pick two available com ports in the output section. Make a note of the two outputs you have chosen. The first output port will be for iG and the second will be for RR. Hit enable in Xport.

Open iGuidance outside of RR. Go to tools/GPS Options/com port and select the first output port selected in Xport per the above. Exit iGuidance. Go into RRConfig and in the GPS section put the number of the second output port in Xport per above. Save config. All should now work.

Meisner, make sure Xport is not running when you do the autodetect in iGuidance.

I don't want to hijack this thread so feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

I have done much of what you suggested. But my real concern is why are these settings incorrect now? As I mentioned earlier, I had a setup that was reliable. It was only after updating DFX, which caused the RR update...and updating the config tool, which caused some other newer components to be put in place, that the weird problems started.

I can set things up so they work...then restart the computer and find something else is not right that WAS working OK before.
