Tony,
Can you tell me what you have for sound card # in RR Config? Also what are the volumes set at for Winamp and in your sound card settings:
MapPoint
Destinator
Streets & Trips

I think I found something interesting by trial and error. All other things being equal, out of the box with no modifications based on what the authors have released (i.e.: rr and dfx latest versions plus winamp2.95 and ig3.0) when the volume of ig3.0 is set to anything other than the max (like 1 line below max) the music volume does appear to lower when the ig lady speaks. I have set the volume control to "master" in rr config. Hope that helps... a bit, since it doesn't really go down to 0 when configured to do so, however its better than nothing for me.

Forget my last post...can people try switching skins to see if it has an effect on the problem where iGuidance speaking does not lower the Winamp or satellite volume? I tried switching to the default BMV2 skin and the problem completely went away. I made no other changes other than switching the skin with the old RR Config tool.
john, is there any way to uninstall the ig3 patch you have on your website? I needed it to add coordinates. Now, the screens dont match the color of the skin and its really hard to read on my screen.
I just downloaded the latest version of the skin, and the newest version of road runner, when I try to run the skin, I get error message, and no installation starts?
Whats up?
Ok, as for the volume issues with iG speaking.... It is in the help file. It is in the section "How do I AUtomatically switch to the GPS screen". I made a separate section for volume in the next release.
From the help File:
There are also screen captures showing the settings for iG and in the Mixer screen"For Winamp to automatically pause when iGuidance speaks, you must adjust your system volume settings. For Road Runner to know when iGuidance is speaking, it relies on sensing a volume change. You should set your wave volume to at least 5% difference than the iGuidance volume level. In my case I have iGuidance set to 100% volume, and the Wave volume set to around 80%. The illustrations below are how my system is set up, and it works perfectly."
I will be releasing a new iG4.0 patch here soon. This one will add coordinates, GPS gas compatibility and such, and not change the iG graphics in any way. (No more little red car)
As for the release of the skin, for those that are asking.... It will probably be a few weeks away at least, sorry. Heck it was just a few weeks ago I did a new release!![]()
I have been alpha testing some new RR stuff from Guino, and would like to see this come to a beta release, before I release the skin. I have incorporated some of the new stuff into the skin already
This will be a major update to the skin, as quite a bit of stuff has been added, altered, and improved on.
This is just a small list of the "To Do" stuff:
-Alter the scripts for iG4.0 users so the iG-Pop up screen works with all of the buttons. (and be able to choose between iG3 and iG4 scripts to use from within the skin)
-New Config Screen for RR cam to take advantage of some cool new features he put in it
-Update the Traffic Cams skin to incorporate the new Update Avail indicator
-Re-Work the radio skin a little bit, and fix some bugs
-finish the auto day/night color changing stuff
-make another screen of all buttons in the skin, so you can assign them to any of the main menu buttons
-Create Icons for all of those buttons
I will do my best to keep everyone posted on progress.....

John,
The upcoming additions sound great. Thanks for the update.
I have a couple of questions:
1. Are you getting music to pause when iG is speaking or just lower volume a bit? Pausing was working fine for me a month ago before all the upgrades, but not now. I have tried every possible combination of volume settings in iG and Wav without success. The volume will lower a bit when iG talks, but no pause. A couple of other users who are fairly experienced are having the same issue.
2. Any chance you could release the iG4 patch when ready even if the skin isn't yet complete?
I get an error aying...
This file contain invalid data when i try to install the digital fx skin latest release.
Is anyone able to provide me a ftp download of a working version, i'm desparate to get this in my car![]()
Sound card = 0. My audigy's volume and wave are at max. In DFX the EQ is also set at max. RR config is set at "master volume". The IG volum is set to 5 lines of out 8.
I think the difference in volumes that enables the detection of IG speech/sound described somewhere (sorry forgot where) is the issue.
Some more trial and error so that folks can check their source code based on symptoms: Setting the Wave to really low and the volume really high in FX EQ, plus setting the IG volume to really low, it appears that it pushes the wave up when IG speaks causing both the music and the IG volume to go really loud.
PS. the other issue is that by spending a considerable amount of time in trial/error looking into this, a certain Lara Fabian song is stuck in my brain! Help!![]()
