Album Art problem
You will see it is not a problem with DFX at all.

I've noticed the same thing, but only in 3.0 as I haven't gone back to 2.5. I'm beginning to think it is a RR thing. I updated RR and DFX at the same time. I think there is another RR thread with some album art issues that appeared with the latest version. I haven't spent much time researching as I will wait for the final version of the skin. Remember, it is still officially beta. If the quirks of the beta get you frustrated (as you sound), then just stick with a stable skin until it is released.
Are you using all defaults within RR or are you using some custom directories? I suspect you aren't getting an answer because load skin is just something that works. I've never had that problem with any of John's skins or any others that I looked at. Eliminate DFX - if you set the skin to one of the default RR skins, at that point can you change on the fly?

I dont understand what you mean. i rrconfig, I have it set to use dfx, so you say make it default which was C:\Program Files\Road Runner\Skins\BMV2\ it still doing the same thing, it wont change on the fly, I have to exit, and edit in rrconfig and reload. Be more specific.
Ok following these directions
Somewhere along the way, the Mp3Art plugin has started acting up from what I can tell. If you remove the Line:
X,Mp3Art
From the menu.skin, the album art should then again work correctly for you. The plugin, was intended to show any art that may have been embedded in teh MP3's, and if none was available, it would show the image.jpg in the album folder. Somehow it is simply showing the album art for a split second, and then disappearing.
Its back, but its not there initially, I think I have to press next on the home screen and go back to the player and the art is there.
For some reason I now notice that the player screen the buttons at the bottom do not work, the next and previous, I have not checked them all.
Well I just got back from a trip to town and notice that the album art IS displayed now yes, but its horrible looking. I have some great res folder.jpgs in each folder, its embeded in the mp3 also and the best ones are not showing up or something, its horrible looking
Also it appears that I have the exact same problem as vettePC in this link
Album Art problem
Thats pretty much the same problem as me.
I never had a problem with the xm being seen as a mouse, but after this change to the menu.skin, xm wanted to not work and the only thing displayed in the xm was the album listing of songs that I had going on in music.
I rebooted and xm worked ok then.
My RR version is 12.13.07 - the latest that I am aware of.
what about the HD radio skin. Is there support in the skin? Im using the Visteon with the cable from Mitch.

Edit in rrconfig, change the skin to BMV. Load RR. Now, in RR with BMV running, can you go and change skins on the fly?
If no, then the problem is not with DFX and you need to post in the RR forum to get the attention
If yes, then it may be something John needs to look at.
Between this and your album art problem, you may want to consider a fresh install (if you haven't already). Or a roll back of one version of RR.
Did that and no it will not change on the fly.
I will see about reloading some things.
I dont seem to have the 11/4 version of rr though, which was before 12/6
welp I just tried it all from a fresh install of dfx 2.22 from the dfx skin installer and an older version of rr and there is nothing differant.
Digeratix, I can reproduce the same problem using different skins and different combinations of RR and Skins I only tested as far back as the RR 11/04 Release
