    Here's a quick one...

Just upgraded to Google Earth Pro and it is now not launching when the regular one was just fine. I see the command to launch uses GE_LAUNCH and GE_EMBED but I cannot find where to adjust the behaviour of these to find the new Google Earth Install path and inbed the new window name (Google Earth Pro rather than Google Earth).

    How do I fix this?

just install the driver not the software.

it will show up as a modem in windows.

    just go to the :
    " Control Panel -
    Internet option -
    (tab ) connections "
add modem connection , tick " dail whenever network is not present
( that way it won't dial if a network connection cable or wireless is connected.)

it hooked up setting in windows and set it to connect to the internet when needed.
    Bump,

Ok, but I don't understand a couple things ... What do you put in the box when it asks for the number to dial? I assume you select "Connect using my phone line" (First option in Win XP)

What drivers? The ones in the Nextel Dashboard package?

I had one heck of a time even getting the Nextel Dashboard to connect. I somehow manged to get it working on my carPC sys, then tried to duplicate it on my desk sys , and was unable to. Always says something about port unavailable , being used by another program. I think I found a driver from some forum, and downloaded it, but lost track after I got it working.

The driver details on my working sys is Moto 5/14/2007 Ver. 3.2.0.0
And on the system it doesnt work : Moto 6/18/2007 Ver. 4.1.0.0

I think I saw you in the Boost Mobile thread a while back. Are you using the i450 or i455? What speeds are you getting?

    Thanks

You don't need the DB software. uninstall it. it is just in the way.

just download and install the Phone modem driver.USB or serial , what ever you have.

(Mine shows up as "Motorola Iden usb driver" or serial )

Then is is just like a modem connection..

I have a 885 which is unlocked and on a nextel plan.

I don't know what the speeds are. slow, if I am outside a big city.( iden ) but in the big cities is is 1-3 faster(widen ). But, it is not real that fast.

I believe earlier in the RREarth thread that Guino says the plugin might not work with GE Pro. I do recall there being some discussion of it. You may want to check that out.

By the way, were the Fly to, Directions, etc. buttons working for you when you were using regular GE with the DFX skin? They used to work for me, but not anymore. I'm using the blue RREarth.jpg supplied by John rather than the black and red one supplied with the plugin.

Understand, but you have to tell a modem to dial and connect somewhere! What / where is it dialing? I'll leave the DB software there for now since it works. If anyone knows how to setup the modem without it I'm all ears. (Yes, it shows up as "Motorola iden Modem")
DID figure out how to automatically load anything on startup and auto click buttons anywhere you want!

You need to establish DUN connection using your phone as the modem. To do this you need to find the Nextel Dial-up access number, username and password. Sometimes you have to use a proxy server as well. You may also need some modem init string information. Look on Howardforums.com (wealth of cell info). I also had to go into Admin settings in Control panel and change a few things, in order to auto-dial correctly. I'll see if I can find some more detailed info for you when I'm not at work...
