Woohoo! This is my 1000'th post on the forums, wow... it doesn't seem possible!

At this time, I am gonna be very busy with another project I am working on here, and will not be adding any new stuff to the skin for a little while. This does NOT mean I will not continue to support it, and fix bugs, problems ect. It just means that new features are on hold for a little while is all.


If you feel like creating the skin / code for it, go for it! With your permission, I could include your work in a future release of the skin, so everyone can use it. If you even do a sketch, or temporary graphics for the skin, I can then use the PSD's/templates here to due the whole transparency stuff so it will work with all the colors.

The skin is getting pretty full in it's current layout. Thats why I created the new "Programs" skin linked from the main first menu. There are still a couple free buttons on this skin for expansion that are not being used yet. This would be a great spot to put buttons to link to these new features.

I am no way near being able to code/skin anything, it something that I want to delve into as some free time becomes available. At that time, I will definately start contributing but I got to learn the basics, at least.

Hmmmm not that I know of. Who knows maybe a server or Internet hickup, but seems to be working as of now at least.

1. Congrats on the 1,000 posts!

2. Is your new project carputer related?

3. If so, can you give us a tease?

4. Since you're not going to be doing much with the skin for a while is there any chance you could make the PSDs available for those of us who want to tinker?

John - I may have found a bug in the music player.

I was listening to one album, in the Player screen. It showed the correct album art. Clicked to the inbedded GPS screen. Then went to browser screen. Selected new album. Correct album art displayed. Went back to player and the album one art was displayed. Go back to browser and playlist and the correct art.

So it appears, in my limited testing, that if you use the GPS inside the player screen, that puts some "lock" on the album art.

It is CarPC related, as in Hardware. My CarPC died 5 miles from the Florida CarPC meet on Sunday. I actually had to stop at a gas station and get directions to the restaurant! That was NOT something I am used to doing!

So, I am going to be building a bigger/better CarPC. This time I will not be using an inverter, and plan on putting a Tank Circuit, with a motorcycle battery on it. This way it survives cranking, and extends the time that in can be in Stand By. When the battery drops to a certain level, it will send a signal to the computer to go into hibernation from Stand By. So, in theory, if the car is parked for less than 8-9 hours, it should be an instant on when starting the car. ANy longer, and it will just resume from hibernation.

A lot of this is new to me, so I am doing quite a bit of research and hardware comparison.

As for the PSD's. My original intent was to release the PSD's for all to use. But I am sorry to have to say that is not going to be the case now, and this is for a couple of reasons:

As many of you know what happened with CDR's skin, and it being used commercially without his consent. It is one thing to work on something to share with others here on the forum, and another when someone takes another's work and uses it to try to make money from it.

Another is, I have been pondering the idea of using this skin for install's, both myself, and possibly for use in install shops. This actually is in the works right now. YES Guino has been notified, and an agreement is currently under way.

The only way for me to maintain any licensing of the skin, and intellectual property rights to it, is to not release the PSD's. kbreeden was kind enough to create the licence agreement that now comes with the skin. Releasing the PSD's could be compared to a company, with a commercial software package, giving away their source code.

I do hope everyone understands this decision. I will still make the skin free for all to use, and will continue to update and add new features as time allows. The simple bottom line is that if the software is used in any type of way to make money, that I be made aware of it, and some sort of agreement is forged.

I think this is actually a RR issue. I have seen that happen here myself. In fact, when going to the XM screen, sometimes the album art shows as the station logo, and when going to Music from Satellite, the station logo is sometimes displayed as the album art until the next song is played. I have had this happen with any of the skins that I have used over the past couple of years. I will see if there is a way to manually refresh the image when changing screens.

Am I the only one experiencing this (I know my system is weird but..) or is the power button supposed to open the OSK on this screen rather than the power menu (i.e. power off, reboot, etc..)

BTW - Sorry to here about your computer and I'm sure it was difficult to ask for directions..
