Here's the picviewer.skin that replaces background.skin so you are able to see a preview. This one is for V3; i'll post for V4 later. See the comments inside the file for some important notes.

Okay well after looking at Shock v4 I'm intrigued with some of the new features, so you guys will have to wait a bit longer while I integrate them into my v3 skin.I've already reduced the png file footprint through reuse and no on/off skins. I like the vertical scrollbars too. I'm not gonna add the 2nd menu though, I'm a big fan of simplicity.
In addition to the shuffle play indicator, I'm gonna try to add jump to song via osk (I use this all the time in my current skin (modded CFX).
Thanks for the picviewer code. I'll see about adding that.

Copy into Shock V4 folder and change the "background" button code to
LOAD;PicViewer.skin.
Also see comments inside picviewer.skin (use notepad)

Nice work treetop, works perfect on my system, I originally had this feature but took it out although after using your code I do believe I like it!!
Crooper, if you add the jump to song via osk code that would be amazing. I always wanted to add this feature but have not taken that step yet. The next release should definitely implement this.
I am also working on a website to host all releases and keep info updated as to where I am on this project. Its a work in progress but I have an apache server running from my house, just trying to register a domain and resolve it to a DNS server. So much software, so little time![]()

Okay here it is. I've put a ton of time into this little project, and I'm happy with the result. I'm pretty sure I got everything that I set out to do, plus more. I've included a readme file that outlines all the modifications I made, as well as how to use them, but here they are in a nutshell:
- removed all but music, video, nav, and settings
- persistent time and date
- persistent system status (cpu, memory, temps)
- less cluttered main menu (IMO)
- visualization in main menu (see below)
- minimize in main menu
- CFX-style exit menu
- gamma control from most screens
- larger album art
- folder art in audio browser
- different audio browser buttons (I'd say better, but I'm biased)
- shuffle indicator
- search audio player for song via osk
- search music/video browser for files via osk
- more detailed Nav skin for Streets 07 (adapted from BMV skin)
- mixer available from every menu (goodbye Apps menu, I don't use you)
- playlist sorting by filename
- background image preview (thanks treetop777)
- cool new splash screen
Thanks to blk02si for a sweet skin, hope you like my mods. Oh, and I'm not including the background pics (redundant), but I did include my psd files.
The visualization is Sexy Attached Analyzer (vis_satan), and is included along with my ini file in the zip. To use it, add the following line to your ExecTBL.ini (must be EXACT):
visuname=!attachanalyser
Enjoy!

Update 9-20-07:
- Changed menu labels to reflect their actual function (using text in skin file rather than graphics)
- Clock area is Gamma control on all menus except GPS
- Disabled system status area and <- -> buttons where there are no relevant functions
- Audio player -- system status area -- click = sort files, hold down = search via OSK
- Audio browser -- system status area -- click = nothing, hold down = search via OSK
- Video player -- added video position slider at top of video (from Shock v4)
- Video browser -- system status area -- click = nothing, hold down = search via OSK
- GPS -- clock = terrain view, system status area = enable GPS tracking
- Mixer -- < button -- click = previous screen, hold down = main menu (in case the skin gets stuck)
- Exit menu -- went back to Shock v3 exit menu, but changed text and removed button graphics
This is completely awesome Crooper! Thank you for putting in so much effort and keeping it open source, the way it was intended.![]()
I will try your version out when I get home from work, I am looking forward to checking out your mods, the screencaps look really pro.
May end up using your version since currently I have no FM or SAT radio currently installed and your version will do everything I need.![]()

@ crooper
Just tried it out - excellent work!
All works fine here, although I notice in your last posted screenshot when browsing albums you have the album art displayed along with the album name. This doesn't happen for me?
My music is stored:
E:\Music\ArtistName\AlbumName\Tracks
A copy of the album art is stored in each AlbumName folder, but this isn't displayed? The album art loads up fine when a track is selected.
Am I doing anything wrong?
