Which version of wifihopper do you have and does it works correctly outside of RR?

Honestly I think the icons are taking a step backwards. Before you had a real simple light duty skin. Adding graphics seems that you are starting to complicate it a little more than needed. And personally the graphics styles just dont seem to go well together.

Not to rub you wrong, just giving you my opinion. Not that it really matters a whole lot anyway. What really matters is what you want.

I tend to agree with ThunderStick, graphic alone will be confusing, graphics and text would make the buttons a little busy and those you previewed don't match. The text only buttons keep the backgrounds completely viewable, button icons would be distracting.

Looks good IMHO, it would be interesting to see how the icons fare against different BG's

    Let us have it!

I've found that I have to put the background folder in the skin directory for the backgrounds to work right. I tried adding a global "background" folder in the RR directory but although they showed up in the menu, they didn't apply.

Neat developments Blk02si, the icons are pretty. I've finally got my carpc and skin just the way I want them. Fast and stable, hibernation working perfectly.

When using icons you have to maintain a certain level of contrast so that backgrounds will work. This creates a problem sometimes with bright colored backgrounds with bright colored icons.
Just what Ive learned from experimenting.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I'm still on the fence with the icon version, I really like the current art right now, just was messing around in photoshop the other day. You may not see the complete icon version but the next release will have a polished up bottom bar!

In my next release I will have the background variable working with this skin, I promise!!! I kind of forgot about it because this is the only skin installed on my actual carPC right now. I am going to be doing a major software update very soon to the carPC it is still running the april release of RR and I really want the iList to work in the stang. We will see how my embedded OS likes directX, but either way I may upgrade my Flash module also from 1GB to 2GB.

How about release two different versions in the next update?

    Shock Skin v 6.0

    and

Shock Icon (sounds close to Chaka Khan) v 1.0

That way we would have the best of both available?

    Whew!

Finally got the code switched over and working with the global background path.

Does anybody know if there is a difference between $background$ and $backgroundpath$ ??

While searching all references say use rr variable backgroundpath=

However the new RRconfig writes this to rr.ini as background=

In any event it is working with background=c:/path to your images in rr.ini
and with the variable $backgroundpath$ in all my .skin code

Also, I know this will make treetop happy, I have changed the toggling of the mp3 and video player/browser skins back to how it was in version 1-4. You can still access the audio/video browsers from any skin with the hold button command, but if you are in the audio/video player a simple click will get you to browser.

Everything is working great with the exception of the background preview that was available.

I dumped the picviewer.skin for a background.skin (basically just renamed it)
but now I cannot preview the picture selection before i select it. If I add "J" line in there it just shows the current album art. Maybe one of the guru's can chime in and drop an idea of how to get the preview working again.

Oh yeah and iList works in the background directory browser now just no preview!!!
