I'm definately interested in said traffic feature. One thing I read about the OEM functionality is that it requires an XM subscription and I'm not much for additional 'subscription services'. I plan to utilize my HTC 8525 with a bluetooth connection for internet while I'm in the car.

The only features I think that will rely on this are:

    Phone calling (obviously)
    Gas prices
    Weather
    Traffic

I also have to figure out how I want to interface the computer to average MPG usage and service intervals considering my car doesn't sport any such tracking features... best I could think would be to use the OBD port to pull the RPM, TPS and injector cycle readings and make some sort of calculator that averages fuel consumption based on inputted values (IE: injector size, fuel tank size, pump flowrate, etc) The service stuff should be easier, just pull the miles traveled from the GPS software and have it set off warnings at whatever mileage I'd prefer.

The graphics artist at my work is going to help out a good bit, he is kind of excited about it too, just because he thinks it could be made even nicer than what Infiniti did by using vector art.

We have a large show to prepare for next week but after that he said he'd love to help.

Now I'm not using a 7" 16:9, as much as I'd like to. I have an 8" 4:3 model which adds another challange to not only being functional with the many 800x480 users but also for my 800x600 needs. The solution? Well, the interface is designed to be 100% touchscreen, hardware and additional softkeys are just a bonus. Since I have that additional space on the base of the screen I plan to make a segmented section styled after the Infiniti hardkeys, sort of a miniture RR default main screen, if that makes sense. That way, the space won't be wasted, the skin will be functional for both ratios with very little modification and it wont look scrappy (I hope) lol.

So this week I have planned:

    Storyboards
-This will be a static diagram of every section and sub-section with a flow and progression of each setting and feature.
    Softkeys
-The lower segment of the screen (800x120) for quick navigation to different menus.
    Software Collection
    -Navigation (iGuidance 3)
    -Traffic
    -Gas prices
    -Phone & BT
    -OBD and Vehicle Information
    -Fuel economy
    -Service intervals
    -Audio and Video (VLC Player)

ECUTalk is able to work out MPG for your Nissan if it has a consult port
You might wanna have a talk with Tom the developer and see if you can integrate it into your skin
It would also be nice to have D6 GPS support.

I can't wait to see this, this is what my 200sx has been waiting for ...

FYI - This is from the new Skyline. I'm not sure if it's part of carwing or specific to the skyline, but it looks fantastic.

I installed my carpc into my pet Kangaroo, mate.

That particular version is specific to the new GT-R only, the Nissan models all get their own 'light' version of the touch-enabled navigation with the 'full-featured' navigation in the Infiniti line only.

I'm reworking everything in Flash and will have a graphics artist that is far better than I to help me out next week so right now I'm doing 'storyboards' for all the panels so that once we start it'll move fast.
