    onlistclick command?

    hi, is there any way to automatically write data from a custom list to a definition file? i want to be able to have a list, and when i click on one of the items, it would automatically save the listtext to a definition file, without me having to click on a button to save it. i read through the skin commands.txt and also searched, but couldn't find what i was looking for.

    thanks
    david

    Sure you can do this, here is an example of a button.
    "SETVARBYCODE;LISTTEXT;LISTTEXT||ADDTOFILE;C:\play ed.txt;$LISTTEXT$"

    If you want to have it so when you click the list then use this in your exectbl.ini.

    "ONFILECLICK","SETVARBYCODE;LISTTEXT;LISTTEXT||ADD TOFILE;C:\played.txt;$LISTTEXT$",audio_player.skin
    Now when you click a file in the audio player then the file will be added to the file C:\played.txt

    ok, is there any way to use the CLTEXT label code as a variable for a font preview, but without reloading the skin for the changes to take effect? right now i have a label that is displaying the contents of a custom list of fonts, but i would like the label to be written in the font that is selected.

    thanks

    Afraid not as the skin is loaded into memory. You can't change the font on the fly.

    for the text color chooser, that's what I had to do to get it to show the preview of the new color. Reload is the best way to do this:

    Code:
    "SETVARBYCODE;LISTTEXT;LISTTEXT||ADDTOFILE;$skinpath$funt.skin;=/DEFINE Font $LISTTEXT$||RELOADSKIN||Load;Font.skin"
    Or something like that, or to do it in what would appear to be on the fly:

    Code:
    "ONFILECLICK","SETVARBYCODE;LISTTEXT;LISTTEXT||ADDTOFILE;$skinpath$funt.skin;=/DEFINE Font $LISTTEXT$||RELOADSKIN||Load;Font.skin"
    So theoretically, when you click on the font, it will change to the new font automatically.

    Of course when you issue RELOADSKIN it will display the choosen font as any other thing you change, like background images. He wanted it to be on the fly without reloading the skin.

    that's why in my text color chooser, there's a test preview.
    So he could have a label that shows the selected font in the font, and if it is what is desired, he could have a button to apply it to the whole skin, similar to the way the color chooser works.

    Edit:
    What does it matter if the skin is reloaded? Maybe a second or two delay?

    Just have it load the font.skin after reload, and it will appear to the user that the changes are made on the fly...

    This is a feature that will most likely be a "set-it-and-forget-it" kind of thing. So, performance is not crucial here.

    On the contrary, my skin changes the font on the fly. Well kind of. It changes the font then reloads the skin. It happens so fast you dont even notice the skin reloaded.
    On my fonts menu it also lets you preview the selectable fonts from the font picker menu. Try it out and let me know what you think or if you have any ideas that could improve it or make it easier.
