would this system with 256 and 512 ram make any difference?

This is what i have and i am thinking about gettting rid of it and upgrade to 512.. Knowing the chip and cpu and all, would it make any difference in terms of performance using any of the fully functional skins for RR?
I like to use ilist and vis and all.. If it makes significant difference then i'll upgrade it to 512.

AMD Geode LX800 CPU running at 500 MHz with 256 ram..

it might cost me between 30 to 50 bucks to upgrade.. But i was told vega with 512 gets really hotter than 256..

What do you guys think, worth the money?
    Thanks..

You can get a gig for 30 bucks, so go for that. 512 I would say is better than 256 because XP will eat some too, and all that eyecandy needs more.

Definitely go for more RAM...personally I don't like to run XP with anything less than 1GB

    I misread the post.
    Sorry for the confusion, brandensin.

And I agree. For performance considerations, more RAM is always better.

Thank you guys. I knew more ram is better, just wasn't sure if more ram would do anything good with a really weak processor i have in my toy.. ^^

man, i should have purchased 512 from the first place.....

    just 1 thing to remember:

if u're using the hybernate function, you'll need the same memory size plus some bytes of free space to hyernate
soh, the more ram u got, more space required
