Newbie with 2 probably simple skinning questions

Hello all.

First I would like to say that I have found the resources on this forum to be truly top-notch. I have gone from a complete Frontend-non to at least a basic understanding of Roadrunner's workings in a very short amount of time - thanks entirely to these forums.

Now that I have buttered you up I have two probably very basic questions. I have started work on my own custom skin. Everything at this point makes sense, but I find I am having trouble understanding the implementation of indicators. Is there a bit of a tutorial somewhere for this? I have dug through several complete skins and have tried to replicate their functionality on my own skin to no avail.

The second relates to a specific function. I want to make a Play/Pause button that actually changes it's icon. I have a Mute/Volume Level button already working - but it's a text label, not an icon. Will I have to do something crazy like make a Flash button to get an icon to change, or can I somehow swap graphics inside RR?

Please know that I have spent a good deal of time (several hours over the past few days) trying to search these topics out but haven't gotten closer to understanding them. Thanks for an help or advice you can give!

As for your custom icons, you can use a button command to switch the image.
Make 2 images for your play and pause icons, like PLAY.jpg and PAUSE.jpg and put them into your skin folder. Then have a button on your skin with this command.

Code:

B1,4,61,99,75,"PLAY||LDIMG;10;10;50;50;$skinpath$\PLAY.JPG;OUT||SWITCHBUTTON;1>>PLAY||LDIMG;10;10;50;50;$skinpath$\PAUSE.JPG;OUT||SWITCHBUTTON;1"

Make sure it is the very 1st button in your skin file.
Now it would load the image at the location x=10, y=10 the width=50 and the hights=50.
You push the button once it plays and loads the play image, push the button again it pauses and loads the Pause image.

As for the indicators, you must have the on image on your ON or DOWN skin picture and place the indicator over that area.

Well, looks like old snow to us, but the heck not everybody lives in snow and ice.
