i guess your ears are good =) sometimes you cant hear the directions when music is on....
for second part you can get line amp chip and connect it to reley... it will switch sources once pc sound output is detected... or you can use phydgets to do that too

I will look into that. My HU has no Line out, so the mod I am doing is board level re-routing of the audio signal, detouring pre-amp to run through the PC first. This may or may/not allow me to remove some/all of my HU controls on my dash. See: 05 Murano posts to understand how the dash is laid out.

So much work, so little time.

why u need line out on HU? You would look for line in instead =) Either way most of the time there are no AUX ports in new cars (hmm or in any HUs that are stock or expansive)

Link you gave me is 404 not found.... but what I did in my car i cut the wire going to HU from the CD changer and when I want to hear the pc I turn to CD and switch the source, similarly i can switch back to PC. This would work on any car that is not using fiber optics (not sure about murano system) Then since i have manual switch I can add PC controlled relay to switch back to PC is GPS talks...

Im not doing that though as I'm planing to get rid of HU completely.

i'm having a problem with the overlay throwing the following error and closing.
"Line -1: Error: Variable used without being declared."

this usually happens when hitting the osk button, but sometimes it can happen when exiting the osk. it might be worth noting that i am running windows 7 64 bit. i don't believe i had this issue running xp 32 bit.

I'm running W7 64 bit and have never seen the error, so I can't really help you to fix it but I can tell you it's not OS specific.

i have this problem on 3 different machines for me. also it's an autoit error which i forgot to mention. it seems like a timing thing. it's very unpredictable when the error occurs. i can duplicate it with different skins too.

if it's not os specific then the only other thing i can think of is hardware. i have two carputers both running nvidia chipsets. my dell xps m1530 laptop has nvidia graphics but not sure about the rest of the motherboard. something else i noticed after i upgraded to my current setup, the sendkey buttons that i had working for my iguidance skin started having trouble. sometimes they would work and other times not. i could hit the button 10 times and maybe 2 or 3 times it would work. i had to add a wait;1 to the code so that it would work reliably. i chalked it up to my new c2d cpu being too fast or something stupid like that.

Quick question for you as you're also running Win7. Do you find that the Overlay doesn't stay on top as long as Explorer.exe is running? Ever since I upgraded to Win7 I've been having this issue. Somehow Explorer causes the Overlay to lose focus and GMPC will be on top of the Overlay. If I kill Explorer then everything is fine and it works as it should.

I just went to play with it a bit and I can say that I don't have any problems with the overlay not staying on top. I also turned the OSK on and off 20 or so times and never got an error. I can't duplicate any of these problems.

I had the same issue. My workaround was to autohide the taskbar and have an autoit script on the desktop that moves the mouse to show the taskbar when needed. I believe the issue is that win7's taskbar is always on top and makes the gmpc window open shorter than specified by the skin. RR then resizes gmpc and leaves it on top. It may not be accurate but that's my theory.

I have no clue on the error I'm getting. I'm just hoping the next version has an osk built in and uses a regular window that we can embed.

Right now I'm not running mine full screen because it's still connected to my test screen (an old CRT monitor). That may be why I'm not seeing the overlay on top issue. I'll have to test that one out when I get home from work.
