Thread: New BMW iDrive Version, possible new skin perhaps?

No guys, I'm not dead...

I didn't work on the skin anymore for several weeks. Lack of motivation and other stuff that had to be done were the main reasons.

The last week I've been working on it a little bit. Finaly got the Equalizer screen ready and I've added a third colour. Brown...

After seeing the screenshots that jp_335xi posted and driving a E60 for a couple of days I noticed BMW uses brown as it's main colour and after testing the brown look in the car I have to admid, the brown looks more like it's suppose to be in there. It looks more OEM as the red was too "poppy" and looked more aftermarket. I'm not dropping the red look. It will still be there when I release the skin. But personally I probably wil use the brown skin as night skin.

Other than that I changed the font from arial to arial narrow. On a 4/3 screen it looks a bit... well euhm.. Narrow. But when viewed on a 16/9 screen at 800x600 wich most of us use it looks more natural and again, more OEM.

Still don't know when I'll be finishing the skin but I'm pretty sure now that I eventually will finish it. So that's a good sign.

I'm liking it. And brown will fit my interior.

This looks absolutely fantastic! It would be a pity not to finish it...at least a beta release with the main screen, music and video, so we could give it a go in the car.

There's nothing like doing it yourself .

No volume control, no transparency, no international support. First one will never be added, working on the last two.
Running my own database software. No iLists, no flash. Just totally simple. But looks good imo
