Thread: New BMW iDrive Version, possible new skin perhaps?

I've been thinking of doing the day skin in gray also. Maybe when I'm finished on it, it's possible I do a grey version also.

But first things first: I've been doing a little work on it today. Changed the Knob/Eye thingy a little bit. Now it looks a bit sleeker. Also the fonts are changed again. For the buttons I used Arial Narrow Bold before but I've changed them to regular Arial Narrow. Again a bit sleeker.

Also I've put a gradient on the buttons. Now the skins look a bit more vivid.

And I tackled the biggest obstacle. The OSK. For the brown version it's finished. Adapting it to the other versions should be a breeze now compared to creating it from scratch.

Just taking a break right now from working on it. I'm on a roll now.

OSK is also done for the Day skin. Just done some changes on the Equalizer screen and added a screen to be called from the EQ screen for the EQ presets. Now I'm starting on the Mixer.

Oh yeah, if anyone knows a nice and clear icon to resemble "presets" please share. I'm drawing a blank here...

I've actually been looking into some of your plugins. Keep in mind that I'm making a very basic skin with only the main features (Audio, video, navi, radio) and without internet support. I don't have the knowledge of things to make it much more complicated than that.

RRGas/petrol and trafficcams however I find very usefull tools for someone with a permanent internet connection in the car so maybe after I finish the things that are important for myself I will make skins for those so others can use them.

I thought that Upd8 would be an interesting thing to integrate but I don't really get it to be quite honest... At first I was trying the plugin version but I can't seem to make it work. Perhaps it's because I use a pretty old version of RR. So I downloaded the standalone app and this worked. I registerd the .bat-file and created a dummy file on one of my external HD's containing audio. I also created a map on my c:\ drive with some music in for test purposes but now I don't know what to expect from the program. At the moment all it says is: "Waiting.. No Access"..?

So that leaves me with Stopwatch and RRGrid. Stopwatch could be of some interest to me. If I can link a steeringwheel button to it, I can measure the 0-100km/h acceleration speed of my old diesel quite accurate. So that one probably goes in just for fun. And if I ever should come to a games section I'll make sure to include RRGrid.

At the moment two plugins are used. EL CAMINO's overlay plugin for the navigation screen and to make the albumart a little less bright in the night skin.

The second one is the file-copier I found in JohnWPB's DFX skin but I'm having some problems with it. Sometimes, when I exit the file copier skin RR disapears. It remains active in the taskbar and the only way to exit it is through the taskbar. I used this plugin before in a modified version of the simplistique skin and another skin I've made in the past but never had any problems with it. Now it starts to act funky. I would like to contact the maker of the script to ask him if he knows what's going on but I don't know who wrote it.

Maybe you, as one of the plugin mods have an idea of who wrote it. Was it John himself or was it someone else?

you have to have the access.ok file in the root of the 'remote' location, it will then sync up that folder and anu subfolders with the one you specify as your local location.


Unless you tell it to do it the other way.

Yep, thats what I did. I've put a access.ok file on the external HD that acts a my remote location and on my C: drive I made a folder called "test" set it as my local location. But nothing really happens except for the program saying "Waiting.. No access" ? No disc space is reported, no files, folders, nothing...

What is the remote location path you have in the ini file?

and what is the path to access.ok?

Oh, and what is the MUP,AUP,MDN,ADN status in the ini file.
