Thread: are most skins 800x600?

800*600 is for the most part the std skin size.

Is this in the actual app or the defined emb area? If defined area, does the app allow you to manually shrink the window to those dims outside of RR, as some apps have a min size that they allow you to make the window.

the app is hard coded to run 800x480
once its fired up I cannot resize.
its a navigation application designed for oem installs
runs fine in windows but not built expecting it to be run on a desktop/laptop/carpc
it does almost fit, perhaps it's that I have to learn how to make a proper skin for it?
what I have been trying (newbie with this stuff) is just defining it as the Navagation application in RR.config and trying various skins.
it's close but not quite.
if it would help I believe I can get a build or get help tweaking this one to have it run 800x600.

Being HC'd with those dims, then you're probably not gonna have too much of a choice but to make a custom screen for it to be embeded in so that you can still have RR buttons above or below it.

You can probably try to run RR+Skin at a higher resolution (1024x768) and see if it looks better (by having empty space instead of having the application not fit in it). Still a custom screen is probably the best solution.

Looks like I will need to learn how to do that.
I can't seem to figure out how to squeeze it into existing skins.
How do things like the browser fit perfectly into the working space?
Are people coding them to open at the exact resolution or they have some method of maximizing the browser into the available space so it fits perfectly?
If I wanted it to work in an existing skin then I would have to get the app to run at a custom resolution? IE if the blank space in the car wings skin is 700x500 out of the total 800x600 then if I can have the app run in a 700x500 space it would work?

If you can adjust the size of the application into the skin space, yes, you can definitely have it embed correctly.

The other applications (i.e. Browser) embed nicely simply because they're RESIZED into the skin space -- and since your application doesn't resize, it doesn't embed nicely either.

Say you changed your resolution (monitor) to 1027x768, then resize the skin to 1024x768 (General.ini setting), then when you launch your application you'd have that extra space to run your 800x480 application inside the skin space.

managed to score a 640x480 version I was able to pop into FX
now I just have to learn how to remap all those buttons on either side to things useful for me instead of what they were intended for.
