How hard would it be to do something like this?

I am new to RideRunner (just switched from Streetdeck2). I love the flexability of RR and I opened the skinner for the first time last night. I listen to a lot of XM radio and I really feel like the display for the XM screen is pretty lacking in Carwings and eLite lite. I can't seem to figure out how to modify the single line display in RR for the XM channels.

How hard would it be to skin something similar to how streetdeck does it? They use a single line for the main information and a line underneath with a smaller font for the details. On the XM screen, I'd love to show the channel and artist on the first line, and the song on a line underneath in smaller font. Here is a pic as an example:

The best way would be to use flash to display the list however you desire -- but this is likely the hardest way.

RR's list support is generally one-line based, so you won't be able to make a 2-line list without flash (as mentioned above). However, you should be able to display Channel-Artist-Title on a single list format (and the item will scroll when selected and it doesn't fit).

If you just want to do a custom Job for your own skin, then you should be able to just make your own list directly in your skin without using a "list" object per-say and get it to look fairly similar to your view just using labels. Basically you can just define labels: "XMINFO;01;%station%" (Station 01 name), "XMINFO;01;%artist%" (Station 01 artist) and "XMINFO;01;%title%" (Station 01 Song Title) -- make each label the size you want, using the font you want and place them in the location of the skin you want it to be displayed (mimic the list you like).

You can do this for as many stations you can fit in one screen, then (if you need more) you can make buttons to load similar screens with just more channels on them. Note: It is possible to make it all in one screen but that's some coding you probably don't want to get into at this early stage. It is also possible to display the station art/image using an indicator with the code "FILE;C:\Program Files\Ride Runner\XMArt\01.gif" and so on.

Thanks for the info Guino. I will go home tonight and see if I can make it work using the technique you discuss. It sure would be nice if someone that knew flash could make this. I have dabbled in flash before, but nothing on this scale.

Anyone flash coders willing to take on the challenge?????

I think sonic or someone else had made a list display in Flash in the past (looking just like that).. I just don't know if the skin actually got released.
