Lightbulb Magicjack as in car phone solution!?!

I've been researching Magicjack, and I think it my be a decent in car hands free solution for me. I don't use the phone often, and it would be nice to have in car service as an backup to my prepaid cell. As long as I'm somewhere where I have internet access, I could make and calls nationwide without long distance charges. Plus the low YEARLY billing is perfect(only twenty dollars). How would I get the DFX5 skin phone dialer to work as the dialer for Magicjack(I am using the skin as my default user GUI)?

    Thanks in advance!!!

Magicjack presents itself as a telephone jack. So, plug it into your router, then plug it into a speakerphone and away you go.

Whatever options would exist for having a home computer dial your landline telephone are the same options that would be available.

I doubt it will work very well, though. VOIP is prone to dropping calls and in a moving automotive environment on a 3G router, would be a particular challenge. Also, of course, the cost of the 3G router, but that might be okay if you wanted internet in the car, anyhow.

I already have wireless Internet in my car. I only plan to use it when I'm not moving when an internet connection is present to save on minutes on my prepaid(a backup phone in the car). I have free nights so I need it for daytime calling mostly. Will the phone dialer embedded in the skin work to dial with and answer calls is my question? How would I set it up to do so? Plus a once a year bill is right up my alley for this project.

Anyone have an answer? Thanks in advance!!!

The Magicjack folks have put out a software-only product called Magictalk (magictalk.com). That might be a better solution and should be easy to integrate the software into a skin.

If you have a USB port handy you could just plug in a USB headset when you want to make a call, or use a microphone and audio out.

No. It will not work with Magicjack. The phone dialer works with your cell phone. Magicjack is not a cell phone. It is voice over IP. You plug a land line phone into it and use it like a land line phone.

Zogg's product might provide a lead, but phone dialer in the skin will not work.
