How do I choose a skin for RR?

I have lost patience for the time being with CF. Their direction in their product is not what I am looking for so I want to move on and try RR.

From what I read there are basically 2 main options: DFX and Carwings. How do I decide which one to use or are they the same with just a different look?

I get the impression that plugins are skin specific and not necesarily available for both. If that is the case, here are my priorities:

I just did a fresh install of Windows 8 (dev copy) and Winamp Pro, CF is not installed and likely won't be unless I can't figure RR out.

1. Sirius Radio with Mitch's adapter

2. Good quality audio through optical out to an external X-fi card, no on board sound shaping required, I have an external processor.

3. Garmin Mobile PC

4. Voice commands and maybe BT phone if it will perform well enough (otherwise I will continue to use my Parrot) since I lucked out on one of those DS350 mics from ebay for $20

5. Elm OBD

6. Broadband wireless USB stick and Wifi for connectivity

The rest is all gravy to me.

I have issue with master volume. Because I not have sound driver for win8 I can't control master vol on RR skin.

Other function work normal

First. U need install .netframwork 3.5 and adobe flash player 10 ( 10 only ) before install RR.

I got RR last night and I have Music and Sat Radio working great. Video works except for a few files.

Why is Elite 2 not an option? It has all the plugins you want. It's in "beta", but is fully functional.

Wow...how did I miss that one, I guess I only looked at completed skins, not early releases. It looks as good as CF but should work. I'm all over it like a fat kid on a Twinkie, thanks for the heads up! Nothing like being a newb again at this

Yes, I have the master working with my Griffin Power Mate.

I am having trouble figuring out where to set up some of the other features. IE: Sirius works in Car Wings but I can't figure out how to add it to Elite so a button shows and works. Also GMPC opens when I select guidance but it does not embed. I'm not grasping the concept here on plugins. Do I need to D/L them somewhere for this specific skin and install or do I just need to alter setup somewhere in the settings?
Any help would be appreciated. I guess I was spoon fed with "the market" in CF
