    Custom Lists and CLIMG Command

    ALL,

    I am designing a skin that is a little different than most. I'm trying to emulate drop down menus. The skins loads the menu.skin and when I click on an area the drop down menu appears and disappears after 3 sec (if inactive). To populate the dropdown menu, I've created a simple custom list (off screen) of my most frequently used sources and apps. Here is a quick sample:

    dropmenu.lst

    0
    LSTAUDIO||AUDIO
    ICO$SKINPATH$ICONS\MUSIC.PNG
    LSTSIRIUS||SIRIUS
    ICO$SKINPATH$ICONS\SIRIUS.PNG
    .....

    and in the dropmenu.skin

    label code...
    L,80,50,140,45,255,255,255,14,"Verdana","CLDESC1", "left",
    L,80,95,140,45,255,255,255,14,"Verdana","CLDESC2", "left",

    button code...
    B,30,50,190,45,"SETVARBYCODE;CMDTXT;CLTEXT1||ESC|| $CMDTXT$",
    B,30,95,190,45,"SETVARBYCODE;CMDTXT;CLTEXT2||ESC|| $CMDTXT$",

    image code...
    IMG,30,50,45,45,"CLIMG1",all
    IMG,30,95,45,45,"CLIMG2",all

    The Labels and buttons work fine, but I cannot get the images to display. I've tried several different variations of the CODE to get them to display:
    1) CLIMGx with and without quotes
    3) $CLIMGx$ with and without quotes
    4) and lastly "SETVAR;CLIMGPATH;CLIMGx||$CLIMGPATH$"

    Some may wonder why I've decided not to use the custom list. Reason: this is a drop down menu and I need the labels and images to remain static without scrolling.

    CLSETIMG is a command and not a variable !

    "CLSETIMG" - This allows you to modify the image/icon of an item in the custom list. You specify the item number and
    the FULL path to the image to display for it. You CAN use $SKINPATH$ and other variables to reference the
    location of the image. NOTE: For iLists, the file MUST be in BMP format.
    Example: "CLSETIMG;5;C:\Icon1.BMP" (Sets the image for item 5 using Icon1.BMP in C:\)
    "CLSETIMG;5;$SKINPATH$ListIcon.BMP" (Sets the image using ListIcon.BMP from the skin folder)
    CLSETIMG;1;$PICPATH$IMG1.png
    CLSETIMG;2;$PICPATH$IMG2.png
    ...

    The documentation give the "CLIMGx" syntax as with CLDESC and CLTEXT. I'll update my copy of the reference.

    Pierrotm777,

    Below is the reference I was trying to use:

    "CLIMG" The Image path from the selected item in the list. Optionally the item number can be specified:
    Example: "CLIMG5" or "CLIMG136" (Image path of the item 5 and 136 in the list)

    I do not want to set the image. They are already defined in the custom list. Basically, I'm trying to pull the contents of the list in 7 items increments without scrolling. So what I've done is define the list and show it offscreen and use the CLDESC (display label) and CLTEXT (button command) to execute the functions. I have it working with the labels and commands. I just wanted to display the images next to the label. If I were to use the list, it does show properly. Also, it says the images must be BMPs. Maybe that is my issues. Only PNGs are defined in the list. I will go back and save the PNGs as BMPs and see if something changes. I admit that what I'm doing is a bit duplicative. I just didn't want to go about re-coding everything when similar functionality is already there with the new Dynamic Menus. I'll post back if this works.

    Got it working just as I described. Each drop menu shows up to seven items. I set seven labels, image paths and cmd texts based off of the CLDESCx, CLIMGx and CLTEXT list codes. When I go to the next screen, I update a page variable and reloadscreen. Works like a charm. Drop menus are possible.

    MitchJS,

    Thanks for the comment. As soon as I finish the skin, I plan on putting it out for all to try out. I still have quite a few pagest to skin. Hopefully it'll qualify as a release someday.
