How can anyone think using PS is hard? If you play with it for a few hours you can do any of the major PS type stuff. Edit out people, copy things that shouldnt be copied into photos etc etc.
PS is the best when it comes to making purdy pictures and buttons and its layering is second to none in efficiency and ease of use. I mean its so easy to make BUTTONS with photoshop and the included imageready...ask me i like PS

sdashiki: I understand, and partially agree with you.... the problem is I usually need to make the things, put them on the screen, then resize them a bit, move them around, etc, until I really like what I see...
but resizing buttons in photoshop isnt easy.... you can easily resize a layer, not by dragging it to its size at least, can you?
Another thing that i dont really like is having to go through the layers to find out the button that I want to move, i wanted to be able to click and highlight the particular object...
But I agree, the actions/filters/stles really make it easy to get good effects very easily!
label your layers, place them into a hierarchal folder structure for each button have 3 layers one for each state (up, down and active)
resizing and stuff like that is SELECTION based in PS. meaning whatever yer selection is gets sized, rotated or distorted.
if you want to resize a layer click the layer so yer "active" one, then do select all (alt-a) and goto edit/resize or right click the selection and do free transform. you can also change the size of the canvas and image itself which changes all layers.
did that answer the question? ask more im here

good to know about the selection resizing... didnt know that
The image and canvas resizing i was aware of, and that is basically how i was resizing stuff before... copy into a new image, resize, copy back to original... ehhehe ops.... guess I dont know anything in PS! hehehe
make sure yer NOT changing the PPI or in other words the resolution, onscreen is 72 and a digital picture from a camera would give you 300 or higher. and what that means is you can zoom (or enlarge however you wanna view it) into the picture MORE without it becoming pixelated.
more PPI means larger photo in size on your hard drive. but PRINT size (also found in the image size dialog) changes how it is sent to a printer or on the web, but the resoltion IS ONLY HOW IT IS VIEWED ON A COMPUTER not being printed.
PS is an image program but it is used for print to, if you dont ever print who gives a ****. but if u wanted to print something you always have to watch out for the image size and print size and the PPI...

oh and also, to resize, you can use the "wand" to select areas of similar color (change tolerance in its options) use the lasso to freehand a selection, use the polygonal lasso to do point and click hand drawn selections or the magnetic lasso (the best) to automatically do a selection as you draw it by hand (it looks for differences in contrast to make the selection, its the best way to select something OUT of a photo)

u no it only takes like 5 mins to make a button...with the wand...as sdashikl said with the steps above..
wtf u mean, be more specific, make a button from wut? a white canvas? yeah 20seconds for me cmon. draw a shape, fill with color. duplicate it two times and change the colors. BAM a button with three states.
