I guess I'll bump this one since now it's an issue for me!
I'm creating a skin and want to have album art on the audio player skin. I've searched and read all the txt files in the installation and can't find exactly how the art display is supposed to work. I gather there has to be some structure in the folder arrangement which will include the album name. I have about 2000 mp3's and I doubt I have more than two songs from any single album. I have all the jpg's for each song (also embedded in mp3) but I don't want to have to create a thousand folders. Is there a way to display embedded art from the mp3 or to read the album name from the tag and show a corresponding jpg?

IN RRCONFIG, there is a setting allowing you to declare the file type for album art. I use .JPG. Then, for each album you have which is contained in a folder you need to have the art file as a .JPG (or whatever you specified in RRConfig) in the folder. Then, as you highlight the folder in the List screen, the album art will show.

For instance, you have a folder in your music directory named "Lloyd Banks - The Hunger For More". Say there is 10 songs on the CD. Insid e the folder you would have at least 11 files - the 10 mp3s and at least 1 .jph which would be the album art.

But there's the problem, since I only have a few songs from any given album, it'd be a huge PITA to create separate folders for each album. Guino, is it possible to pick up the album name from the tag and look for a jpg with the same name? Then if there isn't one, look for a jpg with the same name as the artist or song? EXAMPLE: Say I have about 15 songs by Chicago, all off of different albums! Rather than finding 15 album arts, I could just have one "Best of Chicago" jpg that would be used. And is it not possible to use embedded art?

Having the program search for a JPG named the same as an album will cause problems when it happens that you have multiple albums with the same title from different artists, it would have to create a string out of both Artist and title like StrAlbumArtName = "Artistname + Albumtitle" and it would only work when every song from the artist was tagged properly.

I understand what you are saying but you are no longer looking for "Album Art". You are now looking for something simply like an image that represents an artist or song. Album art is designed to show you the cover of the album case, like as if you had the CD. In which case it would only be applicable when you were listening to whole albums saved in folders anyway.

I'm not sure how easy or hard it would be to implement a system like you are talking about showing art based on ID3 Tags, but it sounds like a lot of work and somewhat taxing to the cpu to me. Remember, your computer would have to search for a JPG Every single time you change songs. . .

RR supports those image structure for album art:

1-Image with the same FILE name as the song (in the same Folder)
2-Image INSIDE the same folder of the song
3-Image of the same name of the Folder (outside the folder in question)
4-Image inside the PARENT folder to the songs folder.. (i.e. C:\Mp3\Chicago\Art.jpg would display for any folder under Chicago if no other art files present.. i.e. C:\mp3\Chicago\Album1\)

Hidden Images files and Images on ID3 Tags are NOT supported.. I recommend 1 image per album folder which is a lot more efficient than 1 Image inside each song..

While we're on the subject: Is there a site or database where you can find album cover images so I can get them for the albums I don't have? Just looking for the thumbnail sized ones.
    Thanks.

You could go to Amazon.Com right click and save the images they use. Not sure about legality though.
