alpine skin questions
ok, i have been using bfm skin for a while now, and saw the alpine one and decided to download and try it. looks great, but a couple of things, i cant get the search function to work, i changed the enter in the skin files to searchlist and searchfiles, but still no go. and, how can i have the music player window come up when it starts, not the main menu.
Did you change the Playlist.Skin "Enter" to "Searchlist" and the browser.skin "Enter" to "searchfiles" or did you maybe mix them up? Also, make sure you included the "" marks - a common mistake. As far as starting to the audio player, simple. Use RRConfig and set the start command to execute box to Audio - no ""
ok, i got the start as audio bit working, thanks for that, but search still wont work. ok, i goto music player, then click list, then click search edit button, type in word up top, click search, it kicks me bak to list.
i have search_playlist and search_browser .skin files. with the enter replaced properly.
im using the alpine skin from guinos site. i really want to switch to this skin, but i want search working.
IF you changed the skin codes: sounds like you're just using an old version of RR.
Try this one: http://guino.home.insightbb.com/rr.exe
Sounds like you are not searching your whole music directory. I prefer the search to look in my whole music directory for all my searches.
1. get skin editor from Guiino's site.
2. Open editor
3. Open The skin you are trying to change in editor
4. Under screens, choose Search_Broser.SKin
5. Double click the button for Search
6. copy and past this in the text box that says Code "!BROWSE||SEARCHFILES" - include ""s.
7. Save Skin
8. Reload RR AND/OR Reload skin.
9. When you click search it will query your whole music folder for a match regardless of what is open below.
ok, this is annoying, whenever i press the search button on the search_paylist and Search_browser skins, it kicks me back to revious screen without searching at all. and i updated to that new rr.exe, thanks guino, nice splash screen on it too. even if i make the list button on audio_player skin to "searchlist" it still goes into the audio browser skin. whats going on?? my other skins search fine, but they bring up the osk skin, this one brings up its own weird one. can anyone help me?? im gonna go nuts.
hahahahahahaha, i SUCK. i just found out my problem, bacause im not testing this on the car, i have a copy of rr on desktop, then i copied it to my d: drive, and have been editing the skin in the d: folder, but it was still linking to the skins folder on the desktop. omg, i didnt even see it. ok, now im gonna try again, bear with me here.
ok, it works now, thankyou both very much guys, its all good, now i can fix up a few cosmetic things on it easier now, thanks to the skin editor aswell.
did you by any chance "mix" some skin files on your skin ? This is what happens (on the latest versions of RR):
You press "list" then "search edit" and it brings you the screen to search files with the small OSK on the top and the text box -- you should see the files listed below.. when you execute "searchfiles" in that screen (search_browser.skin) it should use the text on the same screen and show the results right on the same screen -- just tested it. When you click "LIST" on the right side of that screen, it should show you your playlist and let you search it, then show the results on the same screen -- just tested it too. It is important that the file names for the skins are: search_browser.skin and search_playlist.skin ... other than that, it should work fine unless you screwed up something with your skin files..
Attached are what I have on my alpine amber (that works fine).. this is the 800x600 version... try them out or compare it with yours..
ok, just read my previous post, so in the end, all i modified, was the "enter" to "searchlist" and "searchfiles" in their respective skin files. i feel so stupid sometimes. such a simple mistake, lol. and, thanks again.
sorry, I was replying right when you posted it, so I didn't see it in time.. glad you got it worked out.
