    Little help with photoshop

Sorry, learning PS for the first time. (Former PSP guy). Just a quick question

How do I get this so that the top is beveled and shaded, but the bottom is flat completely?
Its not the cards you're dealt, its how you play the hand!

Thank you both very much. I wanted to leave the top bevel but not the bottom. Th erefore, global light didn't quite work. However, the shadow opacity was a perfect solution. Exactly what I wanted. In the interim, I had figured out that I could promote to antoher layer, use a white filled rectangle over the bottom section, select the top and promote back to the main screen. --- I'm glad you taught me the right way to do this Mercury, my way sucked!

You can easily apply any effects you want (or want a part of), then raster the layer (so the effects are made into an actual image), then you can cut the parts you don't want out of it. For All I know, you could simply put the part you don't want under a layer that has whatever you'd want to display at that place..
