New Skin Question

Hi there,

This may be already covered, but I'd like some help and I can't find it already in the tutorials or posts.

I noticed that in the PDF files for the Brushed Metal skin, the canvas size is 848 x 480 but the JPG files when you download are 800x600

Also, Road Runner only seems to support 800x600 image files for skins.

My question is, in Photoshop is there a way to change the aspect ratio when you save?

Or, is there a way for Road Runner to go into a 848x480 format? MediaCar supported that aspect ratio.

You can save the images in photoshop with any size you want.. CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+S then click on the "image size" tab on the bottom right and set the size you want to save at and hit apply, then save it. That's how the 800x600 skins are done most of the time.

Just like in MediaCar, you can resize any skin to any size by editing general.ini in the skin's folder and setting showwidth and showheight to whatever you want.

One other question:

A 7" Lilliput set to a 16:9 aspect ratio will result in a 848x480 screen size?

I prefer the look of the screens set at 848x480 than I do at 800x600.

The resolution depends solely on the screen used. Some support 848x480 and others 800x480.. but because it is a pain in the *** to configure some screens, a lot of people just run it at 800x600 (that's why a lot of skins are set with 800x600 jpgs). You should set the PHYSICAL aspect ratio of your SCREEN in RRConfig, and RR will calculate the propper zoom aspect ratios based on the skin used and current resolution. Other than that, just set the width+height of display of your skin in the general.ini file of the skin and it should fit your screen as desired.
