Never let the truth get in the way of a good story
Well actually my first thought was to create a simple text editor that would work like notepad. That would be implemented into RRSkinEditor. Sort of a virtual notepad where the skin file would be loaded into in the back ground. Then if you needed to view it you could just click on the show virtual notepad button. That way i can control the changes from the notpad into the skinner. It was also going to give me a place where i could track changes for an undo feature.Originally Posted by liquid_smoke
If you wanted change all fonts at once, built into RRSkinEditor, you could of just asked for it
So what do you think about that. Built in virtual editor that looks like notepad or external text editor of choice? I will be home soon to start working on these changes. let me know thanks

Okay im messing around with the software a little. Here is a different style layout with a text editor built into the program. Im not sure if i like it but with a couple added settings i might be able to crete a html style editor Where you would have two tabs or something like that where one would be the text or code and the other view would be the actual layout of the objects in the skin. I dont want to do a major change to the software unless everyone is going to like it. Let me play some more with the layout and i will post another pic.

Okay im tired. check out this alpha version with a generic virtual editor. Just click file save changes to save the text changes. all changes done in the skin editor will auto fill into the virtual edit screen. May look a little diferent im working on other things as well just getting late for me. long day
Try the alpha here and let me know if you like the virtual editor that i added.

The check boxes in the listbox dont do anything yet i was going to add a disable feature so you could click and move objects that were underneath other objects. just got side tracked with notepad features. enjoy.

profit, you da man. Thanks heartily form the bottom of my heart for keeping this going. I'm doing a lot of skinning and seriously appreciate the time savings. This, combined with Guino's "skin refresh" command make skinning fun! I'll put a bid in for the text editor too (I know you're working on it). It's sometimes easier to copy & paste sections from another skin if you have that part done already.
Slightly OT, and may be a quistion for guino istead, but...can there be tags with alphas instead of numbers? For instance, typical button is called "B02". Can you say "Bxm" or B012"?
You know you want to...Worklog

Well the skin editor doesn't have the ability to figure out alpha characters but it will understand B012 and so will RR. Cant be sure on Alphas in RR. If it works i can make some more modifications to RRSkinEditor so it will understand that BEXIT equals a button.
Back on topic: anyone try the alpha version yet? I will move to this style if people like it.
I was thinking more along the lines of the way frontpage works. You would have tabs at the bottom of the screen and one is drag and drop editor next tab is source code text editor and the last tab is a preview mode. Maybe a link to RR that would run it with the current skin. or I embed RR into the skineditor. i dont know just rambling.... feedback on alpha![]()

I am really digging that screenshot above. I'd like to have the option of having the text editor tiled beside the skin editor as you have demoed there.. I think that's a great idea. The save sounds like a pain- perhaps you could have it refresh automagically whenever the skin or text is changed...looking good, pRoFiT.
I don't believe it matters what your tags are. At the moment these tags don't serve any purpose other than to label an object.Originally Posted by Viscouse

Okay I double checked my software and it doesn't like B012 or any combination of a 3 digit number. Also the text after B like Bexit causes unknown type but I think RR is okay with a B012 object name. Not sure about BExit.
Alpha...anyone try it yet, opinions. Im going to keep going on it like this if i dont get a response![]()

I'll try the ALpha in a few minutes. I agree with Viscouse, a lot of the time it's easier to cut and paste, I don't use word along side skineditor anymore, cuz I always forget to shut down word and get an error when I try to save the skin with editor. Grrr. This is great!!
