Thread: LSX....formerly LS3.0

I have some suggestions after a day of testing.

First let me say I've tested a few of these skins and I REALLY like this one. I like it because of the use of colors. I think it's important not to have an all black FE because after all this is meant for the car and not home use. I need to see what I'm pressing.

I've also noticed that this skin runs a bit slower than some of the other once I've tested. I'm not sure why or where the problem actually is but I've noticed it. I'm running 1GB of RAM on a VIA SP13000 MB on Windows XP. These are some of the things I noticed and some suggestions.

Things noticed that needs some attention (Or I'm stupid and don't know how to use this skin!! )
1. I think the red arrow on the bottom left needs to be a bit bigger. I found myself using this allot during testing but at times I had to hit it twice (This might be due to the slowness I was speaking of; I can be impatient!! ). Can you also make the icons color on the menu?
2. Is there a way to modify your menu? For instance, I don't care about the NET while in the car. I really don't see myself using IE on that small screen so I rather put the Weather menu on that. I see myself using that if any.
3. On the DVD side; when the movie goes into FULL screen I didn't see a way to bring back the menu. You should make it so that when you tough the screen, the menu on the bottom comes back. This will allow for stop, pause etc. Again this might be my lack of knowledge on this but I had to hit the ESC button to exit out.
4. Navigation, this is a biggie for me. Again this might be lack of knowledge or a wish list but is it possible to put the "route" screen big on the screen? I mean to have it take up the nav screen so that when you're driving you can see your turns in BOLD without having to look into that small window? I use Alpine navigation system in my SUV and it has this feature and I love it plus it's safe. I'll try and post some pictures later. I do love the FULL screen feature you have. I'm using iGuidance BTW. Does iGuidance give you a count down to your next turn? I.e. 1/2 mile, 1/4 mile etc?
5. As much as possible try and make your buttons big; keep in mind the safety aspect.

One last question; how do you change the weather setting to display your local weather? I see some settings in the ExecTBL.ini but I'm not sure what they are or how to change them for my local area.

there are some inconsistancies with the fonts right now, im looking into and fixing this up right now.

I copied the clock logo into the LSX directory but I can't see the clock logo at the menu. Is this an error or am I doing something wrong?

BTW: I have the latest version of RR (11-27-2005)

i assume you unzipped the file right?
it should be here
SKINS\LSX\clock.swf
if you dont see anything make sure you have the latest version of flash installed.

icons wont be changeing color, fyi this is a night skin


when playing a dvd, the menu should come up when you click or move your mouse or something.
It should work the same way the stock skin for RR works.

Navigation, IG; you cant change the route menu inside of RR, this is a iGuidance issue which my skin has nothing to do with. It embeds IG but how iG functions has nothing to do with RR.
Is this the first time youve used iGuidance?

safety is my first concern, what buttons arent big enough for you? also note, some things i purposely made small (A-Z buttons on playlist) cuz you probably shouldnt be screwing with it while driveing anyway.

do a search for how to setup weather, its the same in every RR skin, i wont be explaining this again for the umteenth time.

One thing i will say, and not to sound harsh or anything. But if you are new to RoadRunner in general, you should probably use another skin and get comfortable with how RR works, read all the faqs then branch out.

Yes I got the right directory.

I'll download the latest version of flash and try again, but the strange thing is that the logo did (and still does) work in the LS3.0Beta4 skin.

EDIT: I've already got the new flash player installed, so the problem isn't the flash player and not the directory.
