teo, I like it better with the gradient background because the menu on the right, but sparky is right... the light grey is washing out the blue text. IMO, if you start with a grey-to-black gradient instead of a full white-to-black gradient (like you had), it would make it easier to see. Also, using full hue blue will punch out those buttons as well.

i like the main screen a lot better but im still disliking everything about the audio screen. I think the skin is going to be much too dark the way its going at the minute. In direct sunlight its going to be hard to make out buttons etc with such little contrast. However, much improvement and just keep on playing with them and dont give up.

would you remove these bevels on buttons?
nobody thinks at this century like "wow they are like real plastic"

Modern looking layouts are sweet but dont make it sci-fi cause sci-fi is always wrong about the future.
Future will be simple and sober

The current trend is the flatter, the better. Huge bevels and huge shadows are out.

You need a proper example to capture the real tint. This blue is not right one.
There is a little cyan tint on it. Try to remove all effects. Look you want to design a nice lay-out right? It is not talent, not the inspiration. You have to learn about it. Now check out your design. First of all, your idea is just what anyone would imagine if you ask them to draw a fast draft. There is no creativity. The biggest mistake in design world is beginning and at the same time plannng. Try to use some sketches and find the idea first. What is your layout supposed to do more than other and what is the reason that makes you use it. Find the answers before you begin. If you need software help just ask me. I can do more than just being a wiseass. Keep on working i appreciate your time spent for this project.

btw: remove this effects and try to make one nice original flashy shinny lovely effect that has a style and not useless.
