Very interesting. I also have all my MP3's in 1 list, i think this is a nice feature to add.
Ok guys this kinda sorta involves skins...... but is there a way to display the results of your playlist search? For example lets say I load all of my mp3s and I wanted to find a particular song, if It was winamp I'd hit j then type in a portion of the title and a list of songs would come up that matched my entry. Is there a way to have those same results displayed in road runner?
Right now I know that you can use the searchlist command and it'll search your playlist and automatically jump to the next song, but can I list the results using this command somehow?Basically I wanna have another box/list thingy display the results.
Thanks in advance~

My install
the SEARCHFILES skin command does that.
if you use the iDrive skin and go to the audio browser there is a SEARCH button, this will then list all the songs with an occurence of your search string.
other skins may have the same.
Mauri's skin has this as well, works great.

Civiputer: Dont have one anymore, but here is what is used to be!
I'm having the same request/quetion as the OP.
I've downloaded and tested both iDrive and Mauri's Skins. Although both of
them have a search feature indeed, neither of them works as the 'J'
(Jump-to-File) plugin that's been incorporated in Winamp since version 5.02.
The primary difference between the SEARCHFILES command and the JTFE plugin
is delivery time. The former does a hard drive search -- "Presents the OSK
and shows resulting file matches on directory list." (from Skin Commands.txt),
while the latter goes into the playlist and looks for any string matches there.
The matches, by the way, could be of any ID3vX tag field (including
Artist, Title, Track Number, Genre, Path, etc.)
In other instances, the SEARCHFILES command wouldn't find the files I was looking for at all.
Winamp that was open alongside RR, on the other hand, would quickly select the correct files using the 'J' search.
Before suggesting that I'm misinterpreting the SEARCHFILES command (which is possible),
please go to Winamp, open a playlist or load a directory with more than three media files in it,
and press 'J' on the keyboard to see how it works.
The JTFE (Jump-to-File Extra) plug-in also allows for enqueueing files.
To choose a song which a passenger had requested, what I'd do before using
Road Runner (when using just Winamp in the CarPC) was:
* Press 'J' on the keyboard
* Type the song name (or a part of it)
* Press 'Enter' -or-
* Press 'Alt + Q' on the keyboard (to enqueue)
* Hit Escape
I'm sure you can see how that's less risky than trying to scroll through
thousands of titles while driving down the freeway.
It's also a whole lot more effective than praying for the right song to come on.
Since RR is Winamp-Based, and JTFE is already embedded in Winamp (v. 5.02+),
I'm hoping that adding something like that to RR wouldn't be extremely difficult.
After all, I chose RR over everything else because it's taking advantage of Winamp's strongest features.

strongly second this. Searchfiles only works if all your songs are in one directory. Kinda pointlessOriginally Posted by DJiK
